----------------Dave's POV----------------

I back away from the doctor, the world slows around me. I know its odd for me to react to something like this but its such a shock I take it personally- like I did something wrong.

I walk over to a chair in the waiting room, jaw still dropped, as confused as it gets. I see Jen and she looks at me miserably. This is all my fault.

I could have ended their relationship. I was going to be that guy she was with when she was with him. I wanted her- she wanted me but this? How can she have a boyfriend?

My phone vibrates through my pants. I look around and a lot of time has past. I look outside and the sun starts to rise. Jen comes over to me and brings me a coffee.

"Hey." She whispers softly, sitting beside me. She hands me a coffee.

"Hi." I say.

"How are you?" She asks.

"I'm fine." I take a sip from the coffee, its pure black. I spit it back in the cup.

"Are you sure?" she asks.

"You've been here all night." She laughs. I cough.

"Don't worry about me." I get up and walk towards the revolving doors. I see myself in the reflection. I'm still wearing that shirt, it reminds me why I came here in the first place.

I walk back, passing Jen and stop at the front counter.

"The girl I brought in last night, how is she?" I mutter.

"Ah yes. Shelly Price." She types into her computer.

"She had high alcohol levels, must have been drinking." She doesn't look up from the screen.

"Anything else?" I ask.

"It seems to have gotten into her bloodstream. Right now we don't know if she has blood poisoning fro the high levels of alcohol that have come in contact with her bloodstream." She yells.

"Is there anyway I could know?" I say, getting worried. I fidget.

"Im sorry sir she has to be one hundred percent sober before we take her blood and run other mandatory testings." She smiles.

"Good day." She says.

I turn around, trying to process all of this. Just a day ago my best friend was alive, and healthy. To think I was so worked up over this stupid girl who turns out to have a boyfriend.

When I go back and sit next to Jen, she acts like a completely different person.

"I don't understand you." She mutters, standing up.

"We both know that her and that John guy were obviously having issues when you guys met." She goes on. I roll my eyes.

"I don't know how they stand but you're going to have to wait to hear it from-"

"Save it." I say, agitated.

"-Lily... When she wakes up." She finishes.

"Just save it!" I snap. I sit back into my chair. I take out my phone, twenty missed calls, most from my mom. I don't check my texts. I stand up again. Jen stares at me like i'm a monster. Its not me who is, its her.

I start walking towards the door, letting go of everything that has happened in the last twelve hours. Someone yanks on my shoulder and I turn around to a angry Jen.

"I know you're better than this-"

"You don't even know me." I jump up.

"I just want you to know that Lily would want to see you standing there when she wakes up. Not him." She points to John, standing by the front desk.
