"Your name? Uh," I stuttered trying to figure out something smart. Luckily, I noticed a name tag on his white uniform. "It's right here," I said pointing towards the name tag.
"Oh, I didn't notice that. I can be a little dumb sometimes," he said laughing at himself.
"No, it's fine. It happens," I replied.
"Yeah, I guess. I really have to go now. I don't want to get my boss angry and all," he smiled. "It was a pleasure meeting you miss Williams," Liam walked away leaving Dr. Kingsley with a confused look.
"What was that?" he said questioning the mango juice in my hand.
"Oh, I was just dizzy, and asked the nurse to get me a cup of juice," I answered.
"What about your forehead?" he asked.
"Uh, It's just that I was, uh," I said not knowing what to say.
"She fainted," Natallie said helping me.
"Today was a really hard day, and she didn't get enough nutrition or sleep. Did we tell you that Mike was shot?" Samantha added trying to distract him.
"What?! Is he ok?" Dr. Kingsley said in concern.
"Yes, just a few ribs broken," she replied.
"What happened?" he asked.
"There was this guy who wanted to kidnap Sam, and he defended her, so the guy shot him. Please, that's to stay a secret. We don't want the media to know that someone tried to kidnap Sam," she answered.
"Yes, of course. I won't tell anyone. Did he know of his grandma's death?" he said.
"Not yet," she answered.
"Samantha, can you come with me to sign the necessary papers for receiving your grandma's corpse?" he asked turning to me.
"I'm not sure she can. She needs some rest. I'll go instead," Samillia replied.
"Okay, no problem," he said.
Samillia stood up facing Adam, Natallie, and I, who were still sitting and said," You guys go back home. I'll finish all the paperwork with Dr. Kingsley and follow you."
"Okay," we answered simultaneously, and then stood up heading to Natallie's car.
As Natallie drove, she started interrogating me. "How do you know him?" she started.
"Who?" I answered acting clueless.
"You know who I mean. That nurse, it's Liam, right?" she replied teasingly.
"Yes, it is. He's the grandson of my boss," I answered.
"Interesting, tell me more! Is there anything between you two?"
"No, we're just sort of friends. When he was still studying, Liam used to eat breakfast everyday in the bakery. He lives with his grandma in the building above it. That's how we became friends. Later on, I got tired working every day, so he convinced his grandma to give me the weekends off. He even volunteered to take my shifts, so she would agree," I replied.
"Yeah, and then, you guys started liking each other, right?" Natallie said.
"No, we didn't! You make me feel like we're in some sort of sappy movie! I told you once, and I won't repeat this again! We are just friends! Just friends, nothing more, nothing less, I assure you," I said losing my patience.
"Yeah, yeah," Natallie replied in mockery.
"You never told me much about you, Adam," I said avoiding the topic.
