Liam's POV
Soft symphonies danced in the air as I placed my arms around the bride's waist. The breeze played around her hair scattering it around her shoulders messily. Tiny white flowers were pinned to it keeping some strands from fluttering. Her rosy lips were shaped in a grin I've missed seeing. She looked happy beyond anything I remember witnessing. I moved swiftly, each step synchronized with the music. An apology escaped my lips as I stepped on her foot for the second time even though we've had plenty of practice for the big day. She wanted everything to go perfect even though I didn't see a good reason for all the dancing sessions she gave me. Girls! They give silly details such importance. My eyes were trapped in hers as the music took us to another world. She tensed upon noticing my gaze.
"What?" she frowned. "Is there something wrong with my make up? Or is it my hair?"
"No, no, you look stunning, dear," I replied. "I just can't believe that you've grown up so much."
She smiled, blood adorning her pinkish cheeks. Her eyes sparkled avoiding my gaze. "Yeah, I can't believe it either."
The music faded, and I released her as Todd approached us. The young man was in a fancy tuxedo complementing his muscular figure. His hair was styled to add sparks to the occasion."I think it's time I get back my bride, man," he smirked.
I raised my arms in fake defeat. "She's all yours," I smiled to the charming couple and left to check if anyone needed anything. I strode to grandma who looked very cheerful as she watched the couple dance from her wheelchair. It was the first time she left home since a couple of years. Eliza insisted that grandma attend her wedding in person. Todd and I had to carry her all the way down the apartment's staircase and rent her a wheelchair. It was worth it, though. After all, we couldn't leave her at home as Eliza got married, especially after grandma insisted the couple live with her. It would save them a lot of money even though Todd didn't like the idea at first. He wanted Eliza to move out with him but she had to refuse because no one could take care of grandma the way she does.
Unfortunately, I had to move out. Todd said he was fine with me staying but I had to be considerate. Any newlyweds would rather live alone. It was enough that he had to stay with grandma. Besides, I should've done that step since I started working for a new hospital on the other side of the city. I've been working there for almost a year now as the head of the nursing department. The owner, a friend of an old professor of mine, thought I'd make the best out of his new hospital.
"Attention everyone," a voice interrupted my thoughts. I turned my head to where the speaker was. He was Peter, Todd's best friend and the best man. Grandma asked me to take her to our table, closer to where the couple stood. I pushed her wheelchair away from the entrance to the table adorned especially for the bride's family. I greeted my parents with a little smile and took a seat beside my little brother, Ryan. Peter handed the microphone to Todd's father who started a little speech he prepared for the wedding. Then, Todd followed thanking his father and going on with his own speech. I was lost somewhere in the middle of the speech as I watched Eliza's eyes sparkle. Everyone clapped when he was done, and it was Eliza's turn.
She cleared her voice nervously. My heart skipped a beat. "Today's a very special day for me. I want to thank all of you again for coming to celebrate it with Todd and me." She shifted her gaze towards Todd. "I'm not that great with words like you are, Todd, but I have something else in my sleeve for you. Why did I have a feeling like you'd go through the first time you actually noticed me? Perhaps it was just an intuition. Anyhow, I finished a whole notepad trying to make up a good speech for today but I failed miserably. That's why I came up with a better idea. Do you still remember the song I was singing on that day for the college's competition?" I shifted my gaze towards Todd who nodded with a smile. "It instantly became our song when you made your confession a few years ago. This is why I'm going to sing it for you on our special day."
