Evan's POV:
Where the hell did she go? Why did she leave? I've already been down this way...twice now. Almost on two wheels, I jerk the car into a turn and head back to the intersection I just left. Signaling a turn, I gun it to the right. The screen of my cell phone glows with an incoming call, without looking at the ID, I mash the Bluetooth attached to my ear.
"Hello?"
"Evan, can you come get me?" The sound of her voice sends a wave of calm over me instantly. "Sure babe where are you?"Once she's in the passenger seat I pull her into a one-sided hug, "please don't ever do that again ok." She nods when I release her, "thanks for coming to get me. I couldn't figure out how to make it back to your apartment."
"Why did you leave to begin with?" I hear her sigh, "because...I didn't want to hear you reconcile with Emma." Did she just sniffle? "(Y/N) are you crying?" I pull into the garage, shut off the engine then turn to face her, but she is already opening her door and darting for the lobby.
I scramble out of the car after her, just catching her in the elevator. I hit the button for the fifth floor before turning to her.
"You really hate Emma that much huh?" Her (Y/E/C) eyes flash to mine, "I don't hate her at all."We ride in awkward silence for a second. "Why did you kiss me?" She whispers taking me by surprise. Her eyes are now trained on the elevator floor, "I-I don't know. I just..." I sigh not knowing how to respond. "You what?" Her voice is tinged with urgency or desperation, I'm not sure which.
"I just wanted to. Babe I'm sorry, just something in the moment compelled me to ki-"
"So it meant nothing." She huffs out then bites her lip, I can see the tears threatening to spill.
"Babe no-that's" she flees from the elevator to stand in front of my door, I plaster myself against her, my hands on either side of her head leaning my face down until her eyes meet mine.
Tears track down her cheeks, her bottom lip is caught between her teeth, "it meant so much more than nothing."I kiss her slow, a gentle brush of lips. At first she fights me, then after a few minutes her lips move with mine in a slow sweet dance.
Somewhere down the line I developed a different type of feelings for her, and that terrifies the hell out of me but it also sends thrills of excitement through my body at the same time. I pull her closer to me with my palm pressed against her lower back, she feels amazing pushed up close to me like this.
I pull back wiping her tears away, "let's go inside."
Once inside we are snuggled up on the bed, the only light comes from the bedside lamp that casts a low beam across the room, "Evan where do we stand with each other now?" She smiles as I kiss her forehead, "I'm not sure babe. I haven't really thought past this moment to be honest."
My eyes search out hers but she won't look at me, "(Y/N) look at me." She continues to stare away from me so I move until my lips are right at her ear, "I do have feelings for you, I just...I'm not sure how deep those feelings are. I don't want to rush into anything with you because you deserve so much better than that. I want to be sure of how I feel before making you and me an us."
She finally locks eyes with me and nods, "ok. Goodnight babe." With that I am met with her back, "goodnight babe." I switch off the lamp gathering her close into my chest. I am momentarily awestruck at how right this feels, I burrow as close as possible to her.My nose skims her exposed neck, sending shivers jetting through her body, placing a soft kiss there I close my eyes letting sleep take me over.
A/N: sorry if this part sucked, it's after 2am and I'm sleepy lol. 😕
