*Two Weeks Later*

Evan's POV:
I decided to come back home since I had some time off. Plus the house in LA is too painful to stay in now.

My friend Casey is having his birthday party today and he invited me to come.

"Alright mom I'm heading to Casey's party now. See you later."
"Bye honey, have fun." She calls in reply from the kitchen.

*30 Minutes Later*

After driving up and down the road twice, I finally find a parking spot half in a ditch, four houses down from Casey's. There aren't that many people at his house but the street he lives on doesn't have much room to park the few cars that are here plus his car along with his parents' cars.

"Hey Evan! So glad you could make it man!" Casey, who is all smiles, greets me at the front door.
"Hey man happy birthday!" I slap on my best fake smile. In no way am I in a party mood, but I didn't want to just sit at home with my mom playing 20 questions about what happened between (Y/N) and I.

He weaves an arm around my neck leading me into the house, stopping in the kitchen. "Alright man we have a whole buffet here, help yourself. There is a dance contest going on in the living room so feel free to join or watch. Sometime before you leave I want to introduce you to someone ok. So don't leave before letting me know."
"Alright man I won't." With a thumbs up he darts into the living room.

Pouring myself a drink, I follow after him. Scanning the room I find a seat on the couch next to a girl I recognize from history class freshman year. We say a quick hello before she turns back to the guy, Billy I think, picking up their conversation.

Sipping my drink I examine the room more carefully; two people I don't recognize occupy the DDR game, two guys in the corner are making out, the other five people scattered around the room sip drink or pick at plates of various food while talking, everyone seems to be enjoying theirselves.

My gaze idly drifts to the sliding glass doors where a guy and girl stand on the deck laughing like crazy.

Suddenly my drink feels to heavy as it almost slips from my grasp, my breathing stops, my chest tightens painfully.

The girl laughing like crazy, the girl who is almost within kissing distance of the guy; is (Y/N).

I can't tear my eyes away as they continue to chat and laugh, oblivious to the creeper peeper that watches them. I had no idea she was going to be here. I wouldn't have come had I known. Ok that's a total lie, of course I would have come.

She's just as beautiful as always. My heart slams against my chest so hard I imagine I look like a guy in a cartoon I saw once where you could see his heart beat through his chest.

Should I go talk to her? No she won't talk to you remember. I gotta get out of here before she spots me.

Right as that thought crosses my mind, she turns to head back into the house. Our eyes lock, she freezes instantly with one hand on the handle of the door. Too late.

I don't know how long we just stare before she breaks the trance looking away. I watch her practically run into the kitchen, without another thought about it, I'm off the couch scurrying after her.

I find her pouring (your fave drink). "Hey (Y/N)."
"Hi Evan." She replies so low I barely hear her.
"H-how are you?"
"I'm fine." She screws the cap back on the drink then turns to face me, the way her voice sounds so lifeless makes my chest constrict.

Awkward silence fills the air, neither of us know what to say. I hate it. Not being able to talk to her is excruciating to say the least. I've always been able to talk to her, if I lose that it will surely kill me.

"Well it was nice seeing you Evan but I need to get back to my date."

Date? What the-no. She can't have a-no!

"You have a date?" I can tell she grows more uncomfortable by the second but I refuse to let her leave.
"It's not like that. I just meant that he asked me to come with him and it's rude of me to not be hanging with him right now. So if you'll excuse me."

I'm blocking her only exit so she will have to squeeze past me to leave. As she begins to slide past I slowly move until I have her pinned between me and the wall right next to the entry way of the kitchen with my hands framing her head.

"Evan what are you doing?" She sounds....nervous? Why the hell is she nervous around me?
"Please don't leave I miss you so fucking much I can't stand it." Her eyes dart away to the right, like she expects someone to peep around and catch us talking.
"Evan I-I can't do this. Not here. Not now. Please let me go."
"I still love you, ya know. That hasn't changed and it won't. I only want you (Y/N)."

Heaving a sigh I drop my hands stepping back to let her on through.

Her next move totally catches me off guard.
