The soft purr of the car engine plus the gliding movement make it hard for me to stay awake.
5:45 am shines proudly from the dash of my moms car. Evan's mom sits shotgun; her and my mom talk nonstop about random things as me and Evan sit snuggled up in the backseat.
Sure the backseat is huge, but Evan insisted we sit as close as possible without actually sitting on each other's laps- I'm not complaining.
Evan is currently sound asleep with his head on my shoulder, his slow breathing the only sound I really hear even though the radio is on low in the background. Conversation this morning consisted of, "scoot over here" and "give me your hand" after those pleasantries he immediately dozed off on my shoulder. I've slept a little but no matter how sleepy I am, I keep waking and watching Evan. God I'm gonna miss him so bad.Half hour later, we sit in the airport cafeteria eating breakfast. Evan still has ahold of my hand; he let go only when exiting the car but once we walked in his hand sought mine again; every now and then he will run his thumb across the side of my hand almost like he is trying to soothe me.
"Excuse me I will be right back" at that moment Evan's mom heads towards the gift shop with my mom right behind her. I finish my breakfast then make an attempt to take my trash to the trash can, but Evan's grip on my hand halts me. "You know you gotta let it go sometime" I smirk shaking our hands at him.
"Not until I start to get on the plane, until then your hand is mine. Deal with it" he grins triumphantly when I huff out a sigh, " alright you win."I look over at him to find him staring at me with unshed tears, my heart instantly aches. "Evan? You ok babe?"
He takes a deep breath squeezing my hand, "tell me not to go" I cock an eyebrow at him.
"What?"
"Tell me not to go" he repeats. "Tell me to stay. Tell me I can't go and leave you here alone" his pleading eyes lock on mine, he really wants me to say that?
"Evan I won't. I can't tell you that" I shake my head biting my lip. "This is too important babe, your chance. You need to take it" I swallow against the lump in my throat.
"You're most important though (Y/N)" he whispers as my heart stops. Before I can reply to that, our mothers walk back to us. "It's almost time to board Evan" his mom sad smiles at us."Flight 407 will be boarding in fifteen minutes"
He squeezes my hand firmly, as he jiggles his leg. "Evan you'll be fine stop worrying" his head swivels in my direction, he gives me a small smile.
"Flight 407 will board in ten minutes"
"Oh I almost forgot!" He begins rummaging in his bag one handed while his other keeps a firm grasp on my hand. A small "aha!" Is heard as he apparently finds what he was looking for- a black striped, long sleeved shirt. One you've seen him wear a thousand times.
"Keep this for me?"
