It's You..

"What? No way! Really?" Colleen was laughing. My spine was too sore to laugh too. It didn't seem like she believed me. Hell, I didn't believe myself.

"Yeah." I said. She laughed again but harder.

"Tell me what happened." she said. As I finished explaining, she was silent on the other end for a moment.

"Oh shit, your mother is gonna kill you."

I rolled my eyes. "Thanks, cuz. I know that."

My mother was going to kill me. She couldn't imagine me mating with a human. It would destroy her. I didn't understand though. If she was allowed to be with a human, then why couldn't I? It didn't make sense. I'm not going to turn him like Colleen did  JT. I'll simply consort with him. A small relationship was not so bad.

"What are you gonna do?" Colleen's voice woke me out of thinking.

"I don't know. I haven't figured that out. I know she will be displeased if she found out through me, and she will be pissed if she found out through you. So, please cuz maybe this time could you keep your mouth shut for once?"

"Touchy, ouch. That hurt." she giggled.

"Yeah. It'll hurt even worse if you blow this to my parents or to yours'."

Steam was blowing out of my ears. I knew better than to tell Colleen anything I wanted secret. Oh well, I'll learn one of these days.

She sighed. "Fine, I won't tell Auntie Janet this time. But you have to tell her yourself."

My body was relieved to hear her say those words even though I knew they weren't going to last long in her vocabulary.

"Thanks, cuz. I owe you one."

"You sure do." she said.

We didn't have much of a conversation after that. We parted ways. I went to clean up the kitchen and the dining room. Deacon's plate was empty. Mine on the other hand was still full of food. I covered my plate with plastic wrap and put it up until I decided to finish it later. The taste of Deacon's blood was sitting on my lips. It was wrong. Succumbing to blood that way was wrong.

I washed my face, hoping water would get rid of the copper taste. The taste was gone like it wasn't even there to begin with. My body had cooled ever since Deacon left into the night. My sore spine was the only after affect still there. It felt like someone sticking big needles between my vertebrae and pushing it outward toward the skin of my back with massive force. It sucks that I have to live with that feeling forever.

Luckily, Deacon didn't see that my eyes turned blue. They swirled back hazel before I opened them. He never suspected a thing. That was good. My situation would've been worse if I'd shown one ounce of abnormality in front of him. Not only would my mother know about what happened, his entire school would've known that I was not human.

I wasn't really tired this time though normally I would be. I just wanted more blood. More of Deacon's blood. His blood was sweet. Sweeter than wine. Addicting. No matter how hard I tried now to calm myself and not go mad, I would always want his blood. That was precisely why associating with humans was bad for me.

Mother. Oh shit, what would she say if she ever found out? What would she do? Would she give me a slap on the wrist and say 'naughty girl'? Or would she personally hunt down Deacon herself? I hoped she would go for the first choice. The second was just cruel and unusual punishment.

The day had gone by and I was wide awake. Sleep wasn't on my agenda this time. I could thank Deacon and my outrageous bloodlust for that one. The night was dark and gloomy. Gray clouds covered the entire sky, almost transparent. Low rumbling passed over my house. It was followed by a giant flash of light. A storm. Just what I needed to help me fall asleep. If I could get to sleep.
