The Pierce’s: The Secret’s Out
Janet crouched low in front of Mitchell. Her feet readied. Her human teeth sharpened into long fangs. The bright blue glow in her eyes resembled that of her daughter’s. A deep menacing growl escaped from her lips. The animal within her was strong and ready to escape. The words that affected her caused her to turn. They ate at her soul. She couldn’t hold in her anger any longer. She released it.
Even though Mitchell was equally as strong as Janet, he was held away from his family. The Grimaldi’s. He stood behind his wife in silence and watched as she and David exchanged dangerous, deadly glances. His fangs pulled over his teeth in a deadly snarl. His eyes brightened in a lighter shade of his usual neon greens. He hadn’t turned in years, and the features of his vampiric nature was a surprise to Maggie. David was always the calm and the quiet immortal. He learned self-control after the last victim he drank from. The way of blood and death was what he did not want to live by. He changed his ways. Not for himself, but for Colleen.
David snarled. He copied Janet’s stance. Maggie stood behind him in silence as well. Her soft blue eyes widened as she watched her husband and her sister in law snarl and growl at each other. She did not want her family to fight. She did not want to see them at each other’s throats. She wanted peace. She wanted tranquility. She wanted love. Where David and Janet were headed at that moment, would be nearly impossible to accomplish.
“Janet.” Mitchell whispered silently in his head.
“Stay out of my head, Mitchell. Don’t try to talk me out of this this time.” She responded in her head.
“My love, let’s just leave. We’ve caused too much trouble all ready.” He tightened his lips.
Janet rolled her eyes. “The Grimaldi’s are trouble, my love.”
“They aren’t, my love. Lets just leave.”
“Not until this is resolved.”
“Janet,” he closed his eyes and shook his head.
“Stop! What are you guys doing?” Colleen ran into the kitchen with JT right behind her. She stood next to her mother and raised a brow at her father and her Aunt.
“Mom, what’s going on?”
“Your father and Janet. “
“Yeah, I can see that. What the hell is going on here?”
“David told Janet that he would never accept beasts like her into our family.”
“Oh, that would piss her off.” She mumbled.
“Where’s Phyllis?” Colleen looked around.
“I sent her upstairs. I didn’t want her to get hurt. Where’s Stephanie?”
“She’s on her way.”
“Jayce?”
Colleen shushed her. “Mom, keep it down! Janet doesn’t know about him.”
“She should know. Stephanie is her only daughter.”
“Janet doesn’t like humans.”
“That’s stupid because my brother was human.”
“She doesn’t see him that way.”
“We all were humans.”
“Exactly, Mom. That’s why she hates us. She’s a complete hypocrite.” Colleen frowned at the floor for a fraction of a second.
“Wait, why aren’t you stopping this?” Colleen pointed at the stand off.
“I can’t. Your father wont let me. He wants to fight Janet off himself.”
“Why was she here anyway?”
“I called her.”
“Mom-“ Colleen started.
“I needed to talk to her.”
“About what?”
“About my brother.” Maggie saw that Colleen was confused as to which brother she was referring to.
“Markus.” Maggie finally said. “Markus isn’t the same anymore. “
“Of course, mom. Why else would we suspect Uncle Mark had something to do with Lily disappearing?”
“Again, Markus would never do that.”
“You never know mom. Uncle Mark is unpredictable. No matter what you say mom, Mark is a suspect.” Colleen turned and headed for the door, but Stephanie walked right through it. Stephanie appeared in a blur with chestnut hair flying in the air surrounding her. Her eyes grew large at her mother. How can she do this to her family? How can she just turn on them?
“Mother.” Stephanie screamed.
Janet looked up at her direction with bright blue eyes and cocked her head. “Stephanie? What are you doing here?”
“Mother, you need to stop this.” Stephanie walked around Colleen to approach her mother.
“But David-“ she started, but Stephanie interrupted.
“Uncle David hasn’t done anything mother, it’s you. It’s always been you. You can’t control everything, mother. Especially not a vampire.”
“Stephanie, darling, do you have any idea what you’re doing?”
“Yes, I’m protecting my family. Something that I’ve should’ve done a long time ago.”
“Are you protecting them from me? Or are you making them protect your little secret?”
Stephanie swallowed hard. She had a strange feeling that her mother knew about Jayce Masters. The human she brought into her home, helped and fell in love with. Stephanie blinked away the burning tears and just stood, staring at her mother.
“What are you talking about, mother?” she stammered.
“Stephanie, don’t play dumb with your mother. You can’t fool an old fool. I’m talking about that filthy human you let into your house. Stephanie, how could you do such a thing?”
Stephanie shut her eyes as tight as she could and let her mother go on.
