"I think I'm gonna be sick again." Jason mumbled to himself while bending down, trying to hold in his vomit. I shook my head and stood up, still looking at the dead body that lied below me. I looked around to see nothing but darkness until I saw a shining light come towards us.
My instincts kicked in and I grabbed Jason's shirt and pulled him with me behind the small bush. We crouched down as I heard footsteps come closer, the flashing light moving along with it. "Stay down and stay quiet." I told Jason as I gripped my gun tighter, my finger near the trigger.
I listened closely to the mumbled coming towards us; the gravel was making a crunch as they continued to walk. I would guess there were about two people walking our way and we had no way to get out of this.
The sound of their laugher drowned out all the other noises my ears picked up, I looked at Jason who tried to contain himself from puking again as we're sitting close to a dead body. I held my breath and prayed that he didn't; otherwise we were screwed.
As two people stood behind the courtyard, they stopped in their place. I heard the clicking of the guns and that was when I knew that the enemy was standing behind us. "Those people are so terrified!" It was defiantly a male, he sounded like this was his first day out on the job.
"Well, you would expect that from a crowd of people who are taken as hostages from people with guns." The other, more older sounding male, said. He sounded dark and his voice was rusty but I couldn't think of that right now, I needed more than just voices.
I slowly turned around, hoping the sound of the leaves that were below us didn't make a sound. My eyes scanned through the bush to find a small hole where I could see the two men speak. They both held riffles and they looked smug, I was so tempted to go over there and kill them right now but I knew that would put both me and Jason in danger.
I soon noticed what the men looked like. The younger one was probably in his early twenties, a rookie perhaps. He didn't hold the gun properly and he had a baby face with dark blond hair and he wore protection all over his body. The older one looked to be in his mid fifties, he looked trained and he definitely knew how to hold a gun properly, he had grey hair and he wore the same protection gear over his body.
I didn't recognise them but from the looks of it, they were trying to protect their identity. I noticed a black mask around their neck to hide their faces. "Have they found the girl yet?" The older man asked, "she isn't in the hall."
The younger one shrugged. "Not yet but we're looking. She isn't in her dorm or anywhere we have looked so far."
Girl? They're not here for something, they're here for someone. "Well, tell the others to get a move on. We don't have all night, okay?"
The rookie nodded and talked into his radio that he randomly pulled out from his pocket. "Keep looking for the girl, she couldn't have gone far."
I continued to listen, hoping to piece part of this puzzle. "Apparently, she's got the skills on an FBI agent," the dominant one said to the other, "we need to be extra careful if we want to catch her."
That confused me even more than I was before. The only person I knew who had the skills of an FBI agent was Noah and he wasn't a girl. "I'll see where we're at." The rookie said, walking off in the opposite direction, leaving the dominant guy to ponder.
The sound of Jason's foot slipping startled me and it moved the leaves, making a loud crunch. The guy standing alone looked towards the bush where we hid behind, this was it. He slowly raised his gun, still not noticing us.
His face looked filled with anger, he continued to walk slowly towards the bush. For the first time in my life, I didn't know what to do. We had nowhere to hide and he had a bigger gun than me with more bullets. We would both be dead before we reached the middle of the courtyard and that couldn't happen.
