Alexis.
My entire body froze in its place as I held my gun directly in front of the man that pointed a gun at Noah's temple. I glared at the man as I shined the bright light in his face; he seemed to adjust to the light quickly as he glared back at me with the same stare.
"You know what'll happen when you pull that trigger." I said as I looked towards Noah who didn't show any fear, like he was ready to die. I turned my gaze back to the man in his thirties; he was thin build and he had black hair from what I could see.
He clutched his fingers tightly around his gun, ready to pull that trigger at any moment that would blow Noah's brains out and left him dead on the floor before I could blink. "Yeah, maybe I do. But, he'll be dead and revenge will be served." He snickered as his finger moved to the trigger slowly and he pressed it against Noah's temple, making him flinch.
I pressed it against his temple but he made no sudden movement. "Drop the weapon, Alexis." The man said calmly, making me shake my head in defeat.
I lowered my gun and dropped it to the ground, it made a clink as I kicked it away from me. "Now drop yours." As I said those words, I turned towards Noah who hadn't moved since. The man threatening Noah's life shook his head and aimed it away from Noah and at me.
He turned to Noah with a glare. "Try anything and she's dead." Noah smirked at me, knowing that he couldn't kill me. I stood in my place and my thoughts traced back to Jason and Maggie. Jason may have gone up more flight of stairs or he could have ran into this mother fucker and ended up dead or bound up in some closet.
I could see that look in his eyes. The look to say that he had won, that he would take me with my friends and family wondering what happened to me, the look to say that I've lost and I would never be the same again.
I had to make a choice. I could either let them take me or let him kill Noah and leave me running away once again. I looked towards Noah as I knew what he was thinking of doing, he could probably take him down but if it was against Noah and a gun, Noah would lose.
I shook my head with a smile. "You should let him go," I kept his eyes locked with mine as I spoke to the guy with the gun, "let him go and take me with you."
My eyes darted to my left to Noah and the man smirked. "Good choice." He held the gun against my temple and took my arm. Noah took a step forward but the gun stopped him. "One more step and you'll be dead. Don't say I didn't warn you."
Noah looked at me with sorrow eyes, he didn't want me to do this but I would try to defend Noah's life any day. If it wasn't for me, Noah wouldn't be in this mess. "It's okay, Noah. Just leave, find Jason and the others and get the heck out."
I could tell that he didn't want to leave me but with the look in my eyes, it said that I had a plan. I took off my backpack and chucked it towards Noah who caught it in one swift movement. I gave him a reassuring nod and he backed away into the stairwell.
Once the door closed, the man holding me captive pushed me in front of him and raised his gun. "Move!" I followed along to his orders and trailed down the darkness of the hallway. Closed doors were to my left and right, nobody seemed to be inside and I was wondering if Jason and Maggie ever made it out alive.
My mind was circling with all of the possible things I could do to get out of this sticky situation and as we turned the sharp corner at the end of the hall, I used my elbow to knock his jaw. He stumbled back with his gun gripped into his hand; I couldn't grab it fast enough. I opened one of the doors that led into a bedroom filled with books and things but no one was inside. The moonlight from the window shined brightly and I could see my captor clearly.
He had a bearded round face with black hair. He got a grip of his balance and aimed the gun towards me while holding his jaw and in one instant, I swung my hand and forcefully knocked his arm and took the gun from him. Happy with the results, I aimed it at him and clicked the safety off. "Did you see anyone else up here?" I questioned, my voice blank and emotionless.
He snickered and placed his hands down in defeat, he straightened up and his eyes looked directly into mine. The gun was pointed at his head; if I pulled this trigger then he would be dead in an instant. I wanted answers, I was so sick of not knowing. "Didn't you hear me?" I took a step closer to him; he didn't flinch or take a step back.
I took a few more steps until the tip of the gun was touching his forehead. "You'd be a good-" I pulled the trigger, feeling no remorse. I didn't want to hear any more of what he was going to say. If I wanted answers, then I was going to have to find them myself.

I walked back to the stairwell doors, I didn't expect Noah to stick around but my gun was nearby. I checked the bullets left in the one I took and there was only a few left. Noah had my bag with all of the bullets left and I doubted I would find anymore. Once I located my gun, I looked in the stairwell but with no flashlight, it was useless. I placed one gun in the back of my jeans, covered by my t-shirt.
Instead, I headed into one of the rooms and closed the door without a sound. I took a quick glance outside to find nobody in sight only the red and blue flashing lights that appeared in my view. After all this time, the police appeared to be useful for once. It was coming closer and I could hear the faint sound of the sirens coming towards the campus.
I took a breath of relief but I knew this was far from over. I've learnt from my father that you have to follow procedure. As much as you wanted to come with in guns blazing, you couldn't. These people had guns too and civilians could get caught in the crossfire.
I knew this may take all night but that didn't mean I had to sit here and do nothing while people were dying. Maggie was still unknown and I had no idea if Jason was alive, Norrie and Cam could be dead as well as others and Noah could be anywhere at this point with my bag.
I left the room and trailed up the stairs to more rooms. It was awfully quiet and I hated the quietness. I held my gun up just in case someone decided to jump me but I remembered that they didn't want me dead.
That was my only advantage out of this and it was my only way to survive. Once I checked all of the rooms, I noticed one door was slightly open. Somebody could be inside. I backed myself up against the wall and slowly slid myself across and raised my gun in front of me. I used my free hand to slowly push the door open; it creaked at first until it hit the wall.
I stepped in and panned the room with my gun and with that, somebody screamed and held up a golf club in defence. I realised that it was not one of the enemies but somebody who studied here. I lowered my gun and placed it in my jeans and covered it up with my shirt. I couldn't see the figure but I could see his weapon and by the looks of it, he was terrified.
"It's okay," I reassured him, "my name is Alexis Archer and I'm on your side." I kept my voice quiet so I didn't scare the person. He slowly stepped into the light from the moon and my eyes widened at who appeared in my sight.
"Alexis?" Spencer's voice rung in my ears and come to think of it, he never crossed my mind once. He dropped the golf club and sighed with relief, he didn't seem to hate me in that moment and it felt nice. When he dated Jess, we were all so close.
"Jesus Christ, Spencer," I said in a whisper, "what would have happened if a shooter came in here and all you had was a golf club?"
He shook his head and ran his hands through his messy hair. He looked scared and helpless and if I hadn't come in here then he might be dead. "What else was I supposed to use? The fucking lamp!?"
This always happened. We argued and went off topic like nothing serious was happening. "Did you see Maggie or Jason walk through here?" I asked, rolling my eyes and changing the subject.
He sighed. "Jason came through here looking for Maggie. He told me to stay here because he heard a noise upstairs but he never came back."
Those last words sent shivers up my spine. "How long ago?"
"Fifteen minutes, maybe more." He said in distress. I closed the door to the room and took another look outside. I sighed and realised that I was stuck with Spencer Dolan, the guy who hated me for letting his girlfriend die.
