Punks They Were

Karkat had woken up to the sound of movement, mostly to someone stumbling about. The only person it could be was Terezi, as his eyes were shut he wondered what she was doing so early. And then a thought hit him like a truck.

Was she leaving?

His eyes opened abruptly and he whipped his head to look at the spot where Terezi should be sleeping. Where she wasn't. Instead, he saw the female propped up against a wall and licking it. He quickly pulled her away, grabbing her waist. The two were sprawled on the floor. Karkat sat up as Terezi still lay casually.
"Terezi what the actual fuck are you doing?" Karkat's hoarse morning voice snapped. Terezi just calmly shrugged.
"I'm branching out my senses. It's a brick wall, dark maroon colour. Pretty old."
"How the fuck does that even relate to...." He trailed, staring at the wall. She was right. The colour was a dark and faded maroon, compared to the vibrant bricks in a better city. I mean, it was a first that she got a colour right.

Before Karkat could reply or finish his sentence, Terezi sat up and sniffed the nook of his neck as the guy swore under his breath.
"Why are you so nervous?" The girl asked casually, taking several more whiffs.
"What, are you now looking into my soul? The fuck Terezi." He retorted.
"No it's just, you don't smell this sweaty." She sat up, away from him.
He rambled. "Of course! I wake up thinking you're finally planning on ditching only to see your crazy ass licking the side of a brick wall. I mean that's just great, she knows it's made of brick. Also, warn me when you're gonna stick your nose into my bubble of personal fucking space."
Terezi just stared at him for a while, a wave of silence washed over the two.

"You thought I was ditching you?" The girl asked after some time, Karkat immediately regret rambling on about what was on his mind.
"Nevermind that, what matters now is what kinda stuff you've been taking to make you lick walls." He quickly attempted to change the topic. Terezi just stared at him.
After a while of staring, Terezi decided not to push the question on any further. Karkat would tell her what's up eventually. She gave up on the topic.

"Last night I had a weird dream right? Well in the dream we were all where we were at the community centre, the only difference being I couldn't hear. I could only manage some muffled words, but other than that I was in the usual darkness. While being clueless as shit, I was thinking about other methods to find out my surroundings. So I could use smell, taste or feel. I'm testing everything out, taste and smell work pretty well." She explained, Karkat snorted.
"You're bat shit crazy."
"At least my words don't come straight out my ass." She snapped, that made Karkat shut up.
Another wave of silence washed over them.

"How about we don't make this a long morning?" Karkat stated, making it sound less of a question. Terezi nodded.
"Hey I was thinking of getting some of my stuff back at home." She added, it was true. She only had the clothes on her back and a cane they bought for less than dollar, there were plenty of personal items that she missed.
"Fuck it, where do you live?" Karkat got up, pulling the girl up too as she gripped her cane. They walked along the busy street where Karkat read signs aloud and Terezi lead them to her house by memory. Soon enough they reached a small, one story place with a gate leading to their backyard. The two entered from the back window, clearly breaking an entry but let's face it.

They were teens, freely on the streets and rebellious punks. Why the hell not.

Luckily the back window was Terezi's room that she shared with Latula, her sister lay on her bed playing a video game on her phone. The older sister waved, focused on the game as Terezi guided Karkat to her side of the room.
"Red glasses on the drawer. There's a suitcase under my bed, maybe I was planning on running away." She stood in the middle of the room, her sense of smell was still wonky and the best option right now was to just explain where Karkat had to scramble to. He muttered complaints under his breath, but gathered everything, setting them in the luggage. Latula also handed Karkat some more money, she told him that next week was moving out day. Which if worded properly meant they'd be leaving soon. He nodded, looking over at the strawberry haired girl sniffing her bedroom covers. They left after Latula smuggled some snacks with them, insisting they'd use the money for a cheap motel to stay the night. They wandered the streets until finding a super cheap motel, unfortunately having to share a bed. Terezi took in the time she had with a bed-even though it was cheap and probably full of bedbugs- whereas Karkat sat in a nearby and nearly broken chair, he stared at the ceiling.

"Tez about before, the part about me thinking you were ditching..." He muttered aloud, catching the attention of the female stretched across the beige colour sheets. She sat up.
"Finally planning to tell me?" The girl grinned, Karkat still looked up.
"Mhm." Was all that escaped from him.

W|N Becoming more active with this so yay me. Enjoy tho.
