"What's up with you and weird get-ups?" Karkat asked under his breath, swinging around the hangar that he was forced to hold. They stopped at a weird thrift shop a couple moments back, Terezi leading him to a certain dragon cape. It was certainly not a let down. All Terezi did once retrieving the cape was shove it in Karkat's face and recite a bunch of reasons why it would benefit the both of them. Karkat however was unimpressed. Even though Latula did give him plenty of money, he didn't want them wasting it on a cape. Especially on one just for roleplaying. He stared at her flatly as she waltzed around the rows of hangars and used clothing.
It got even worse when Terezi retrieved one more cape, making that two dragon capes. Not one, but two. One was red with green button eyes, the other white with red button eyes. The two dragon heads both had obnoxious spikes running down the back of its head, and a snout that pointed forward. Terezi suggested for Karkat to have the white one, but Karkat didn't want any cape in general. Let alone that, it was super long and would just drag behind him, which was also the same as Terezi considering they were the same height. But still, it would be a waste.
"Karkat I can guarantee you these will be extremely valuable for future purposes." Terezi explained, she poked her face closer to Karkat's, making her eyes slightly visible through her red glasses. The girl grabbed at Karkat's shoulders, his arms were currently crossed in hopes to follow up this stern facade. He had the money in his pocket anyway, Latula entrusted it to him.
"We're not buying a cape, we have to pay for the motel and food." Karkat quickly rejected, deadpanned. He watched nonchalantly before Terezi made a pouting face and furrowed her eyebrows, he swore her eyes sparkled for a quick second. He stared at her pouty face before wrinkling his nose in frustration and groaning. Taking a deep breath only to sigh it out, Karkat moved away from Terezi's nearing face and took the two hangars that were in Terezi's hands, he began walking away. The female quickly grabbed a hold of Karkat, she didn't have her cane, so he was the only guidance. But she couldn't tell what he was doing, after a couple steps he told her to stand here and wait. With all honesty, Karkat once again had no idea what came over him. But there he was at the cash register purchasing two shitty dragon capes. He made Terezi stand by the exit, who was currently confused and tapping her foot. After nodding a respective thank you to the old woman who was at the cash register, he walked over to the teen by the exit who was fixing her glasses.
Again with the deadpanned look-the best one he could muster-Karkat wrapped the cape and tied it on comfortably on Terezi, who just stood there dumbfounded. He lifted the hood for it to sit on her strawberry mess of hair as the girl suddenly grabbed the sides of the cape in awe.
She quickly beamed, noticing he'd bought her the capes only to quickly grab the white one and forcefully wrap it around Karkat messily. He restrained at first, but still helped her tie the knot to keep it on. She was happy, so he was too.Aside from being bashful as Terezi gripped and swung his hand all the way to the motel, Karkat could certainly notice all the weird looks they received. Terezi however didn't, she strolled along with a cocky grin like it didn't matter being judged cause she couldn't tell. He looked at her before smiling vaguely and suddenly throwing all the weird looks and bad opinions out the window. They weren't high, they were happy.
Perhaps too happy, since the end of the day didn't end up that way.
They were steps away from the motel when it happened."Hey Terezi," Karkat started, swinging along with Terezi as he half smiled.
"Hm?" She responded, still facing forward and raising her eyebrows."I love you."
The male mindlessly said aloud, he wished he didn't though. Clasping his free hand over his mouth and eyes wide the two teens suddenly stopped walking. He had to do something about this. Moving his free hand away from his mouth he quickly rambled nervously for an excuse.
"Listen Terezi I didn't mean it-fuck I mean I kind of I just-argh-just listen I-"
Terezi stopped him, the hood of the cape lowering on her face.
"No it's fine I just-" She sighed. "Let's just go back."
Karkat noticed her quickly take her hand away from each other's grasp, painfully slow. They walked in silence to their room, Karkat infront of Terezi so she could tell where she would be going. Terezi slept first, or Karkat just didn't want to sleep just yet. That night she took the whole bed, Karkat voluntarily choosing to sleep on the old seat in the corner. Later on would he end up on the floor. He regret everything.
But he was right. It wasn't a good idea. It never was. While the boy regretted everything but the girl was scared. But she wouldn't tell anyone of course. Terezi had thought about what he said, he meant it. She thought about how Karkat was nice and very kind to her, how he always looked out for her, how much she wants to see his face, how great it would be to live her entire life with him. Maybe once in a while she really wanted to hold his hand, but that wasn't the point. It wouldn't work out, they live in a motel relying on gas station sandwiches for food. She could think of plenty 'what ifs' as she lay on her side. But eventually the girl drifted asleep.
Terezi didn't have much good sleep. She had the usual weird dream about having no senses, but a new one emerged. It was hazy, but she was at her new home with Latula, Mituna and Karkat, the two holding hands. She looked over at the teen before he did too, flashing a rare smile at her. She could tell she was crying all of a sudden, since her vision had gone blurry.
Her vision had gone blurry.
Amongst all the blurriness, Terezi could feel Karkat letting go of her hand and watched him fade away into a bright light, and at that he was gone. She woke up in complete darkness as usual, but it was uncomfortable. The girl had forgotten what it was like to see, it sort of made her feel like...not her. It took her awhile to realize she was crying too.
She wished to go call for Karkat, but a lump in her throat and a voice in her head made her stop herself, instead she just laid back down in her bed wondering what her dream meant.Oh how she hoped it wasn't foreshadowing something.
W|N ( = ^ U ^ = ) it's crappy but exceptional
