It wasn't quite morning when Terezi had laid in her bed thinking of a plan, it leaned around three o'clock am. Nonetheless it seemed like morning then, she swore she felt the rays of sunlight grazing her face as she sat upright in the dusty motel bed.
Their allowance was running out. Latula hadn't given them more, in fact, they haven't even met in a while. The landlord kind of fished you out if it seemed like you didn't pay enough, they were ready to move to another motel. Perhaps they could stay another night, but by dawn tomorrow, they'd be gone. Terezi had a suitcase full of clothes and necessities, but she decided to stuff the important ones in a cheap dollar store bag. The rest was to be left undecided, she'd probably just drop it off at home in hopes Latula would bring it to their new home. They also didn't get any news about how the ditching home plan was going. Which wasn't reassuring.Terezi woke up on the floor, in Karkat's arms. It kinda sucked just laying there on the floor, but what could you do. Terezi was stuck there in his embrace, so she decided to maybe make use of it. She leaned into his collarbone and let herself get swallowed by his scent, she didn't know what it was. It wasn't anything bad, she actually was extremely puzzled as to how he managed to smell good. He smelled like home, what his house would smell like, burnt cinnamon candles or something she didn't know how he managed that scent. It was like his own special smell, she could tell if it were him. Maybe she would like it better as a mystery that could be solved later, but she left it at that. Karkat had awoken anyway.
"Mornin'" His hoarse voice somehow managed to still be soothing, it was quiet and almost a whisper yet she could still hear it.
"Hello there." Terezi replied amused, she spoke into his shoulder. Karkat made groaning noise and untangled himself from Terezi. She lay there as he sat up, clutching his head and groaning.
"Painkillers?" Terezi suggested, deciding to just lay there for a while, carpet floors were nice. Karkat grunted. He had a pounding headache.
"My older brother used to hover over me if he saw me with a migraine. He would ask a bunch of annoying questions and it'd just increase my shitty headache." Karkat mused a bit, Terezi snorted.
"What was your brother like?" She wanted to hear him explain some more about his life, she never really got to know.
"Really annoying. Like fuck, wouldn't shut up about trigger warnings and specific topics that he felt strongly debatable about or some shit. Thinks he knows a lot, he's probably getting some degree as we speak." The dark haired teen sounded pretty groggy this morning, probably cause he was sleep deprived. Three hours of sleep was all he had. Still going somehow. He also somehow sounded sarcastic, or just really pissed off about his brother.
"And when he found out you were gone?"
Karkat scoffed. "That shut him up. My mom didn't let him miss me for long though, she wouldn't let him tell police or put up signs. She didn't give half a shit. My older brother kinda just dragged himself along to a better future, I used to watch him from his room window. I had nowhere to go anyway so I just stayed behind the fence of our backyard. His name was Kankri Vantas I think, haven't seen him in a couple of years."
Terezi laid on her stomach and leaned on her palm as he spoke, Karkat seemed to have pretty bad parents too. Tough luck, all four of them had bad parents. Aradia and Sollux were probably ready to run at any moment.
There's a small silence before Karkat had asked a question, he rubbed the back of his neck.
"I never knew you had panic attacks before."
Terezi shrugged, she had forgotten that it even happened. "Neither did I, I think that was my first one." She wondered why that didn't turn up any sooner. Karkat just looked at her pretty worried (Terezi could even feel his eyes darting through her) and attempted to continue the conversation."Don't wanna put pressure on you or anything, but yesterday you wanted to tell me something. I know it's a dick move, you don't have to answer." Karkat mumbled, shifting a bit. Terezi shrugged.
"I figured you'd wanna know. It's nothing though." She got up from her position and sat up, hopefully facing the tired male. The light haired female slowly regretted not telling him right there and then, mentally hitting her herself on the head. She should've just spit it out.
No, I still can.
"Breakfa-" Katkat started, but Terezi interrupted him loudly.
"No." She exclaimed, Karkat looked at her dumbfounded.
"No." Terezi repeated quietly. "I have to tell you." Determined, Terezi moved into a cross-legged position as Karkat listened to her intently. She took a long pause before finally gulping and spitting it out.
"You're always there for me even though I'm a dick sometimes with my annoying laugh and I'm not perfect but you always seem to not give a crap about it. I really appreciate that." She said in one breath, Karkat looked at her bemusedly but had a softer look.
"I think, well, I know. I'm, I'm in love with you," Terezi said slowly, looking confused by her own words, but still kept a steady tone by the end of her sentence. She felt relieved not to know what Karkat looked like right now, she hoped he was taking this pretty well.Karkat looked dumbstruck, he blinked at Terezi for a while before opening his mouth to say something. His mouth was dry of course, but he managed a couple of words.
"I'm in love with you too."
Terezi sighed, she always imagined him just playing it well and them still being friends but this was possibly the best outcome she had gotten. After thinking it over, she decided not to dwell on what would end up of them, instead what they would manage to accomplish. She grinned her usual toothy grin as Karkat laughed nervously."Are you gonna kiss me now?" The strawberry haired teen asked in her weird voice that she used when teasing Karkat. It was sort of a sentence she always wanted to ask in hopes to sound extremely dominate and cool. Which she probably was. The dark haired teen grinned at her while shaking his head, she was possibly the best person he had ever met.
"You bet your freaking student loans I am." Karkat humoured, and at that he leaned in slowly to look into the females eyes, which were always empty looking. He never really thought about how empty they looked, the guy was too busy thinking of how pretty they were. He noted not to say that aloud, that was way too sappy for him. Terezi let those thoughts escape as she impatiently smashed her mouth into his, she didn't really have any way to navigate where they were which was why it was sloppy. He didn't seem to complain though. It was an innocent kiss, tongues weren't battling for dominance and their lips weren't being bitten at lustfully, in fact they didn't know what they were doing. It just happened to be blissful and sweet, like how all first kisses go. Although Terezi had her first kiss in middle school, Karkat hadn't been even close to anyone enough to kiss, he was quite the amateur.
They only stopped to breath, smiling as they panted, chest heaving up and down as they somehow were lying on the ground again, Terezi on top of Karkat.
"Fuck." Karkat said almost automatically, he sat sat up, not caring that the strawberry haired teen was sitting on his lap, but more at the fact that it wasn't just the two of them in the room."Holy shit sis." Latula muttered, awestruck. She and Mituna stood at the door.
"Dammit guys, you call that a sloppy makeout?" Mituna uttered loudly, he quickly stopped himself as the two teens stared at him.
".....sorry." He muttered, his lisp getting in the way of his speech. Latula acted as though nothing bad happened."Well that was heated." The brown haired female said quietly, silently proud of her sibling and totally dumbfounded at her little sisters ability to kiss a guy. Terezi just smiled nervously as Karkat covered his eyes with his hands, embarrassed and flushing.
W|N The ending could be considered comic relief idk lmao. okk I went on a whole hiatus there sorry I'm just really slow when it comes to updates now. But this is a long one so I guess it's worth it? This ones probably choppy though, I've only been coming to add to the chapter every now and then. I've also been stalling way too much with the Karezi and this is my way of saying oops. Im having fun with the next chapter other though ;) stuffs gonna go down. js. enjoy.
