The Day the Newsreader Cried

Remember the day
the Newsreader Cried?
but of course you don't
on air her tears were dried

she almost couldn't sit there
and Smile Numbly to say
"76% of teenagers
Self-Harm today"

to most this is just a Fact
and a Fact is all
but she was Angry to think
a Number was used at all

because as soon as you bring
Numbers from a survey
you take all the Human
aspects of the Fact away

so instead of feeling Grief
for each Individual in Pain
people hear only a Number
and think them All Insane

so that is why the Newsreader
Cried that day
her Heart was Bleeding for the Frightened
and for the Humanity taken away
