"Perhaps, we should start with an introduction, don't you think? ...I'm Nigel and you are?..." He drawled.
"Go fuck yourself! She said rudely. "What do you want?" She asked. You just blew my chance at earning a good dough!"
"You." He stepped on the curb, paused then smiled at her and ran his eyes down her body then clicked his tongue in appreciation. "I'd say... that you are just exactly what I want for my specific purpose."
"If you are here to make trouble, you could just scram before I call my pimps on you!" Lexie said tersely, bringing the cigarette to her lips again.
He glanced around and said. "I don't see any pimp anywhere..." He scrutinized her with a cocky smile now. "It looks to me that you are all by yourself in this place, sweetie."
Realizing that he was actually right and had not been scared off by her false threat, she pushed herself from the wall and began to walk away, especially hating that cocky smile of his. "I've got to go home anyway." She said over her shoulder and pinched the depreciating cigarette between the pads of her thumb and index finger and took a lungful of smoke.
"You are not entitled to turn down an eligible customer, you know?" He said, watching her leave.
"Go screw yourself!" She said over her shoulder, still walking. "I don't like you and that makes you an exception."
He began to walk behind her along the curb, with his hands in his pants pockets even though he knew that if he had intended to kill her from the start, she'd be dead by now. "I like my quarries stubborn! You'll be a perfect newborn when you turn."
She rolled her eyes and sighted a police cruiser up ahead and that depreciated her fear. "I don't know what the fuck you are talking about and whatever it is, I'm simply not interested! I've got pepper spray so you might wanna keep your damn distance and if you keep following me and don't stop bothering me, I'm gonna report you to the cops that you are actually harassing me."
"Really?" He said, not the slightest bit daunted. "I thought handsome men were rather irresistible to your kind."
"I go for the cash not for the looks, it's all about the fuck, no damn strings attached beyond that! When I'm ready to get married and settle down, I could consider an handsome man then." She took her last drag from the cigarette and tossed the butt away as they got close to an alley opening.
"So you actually have hopes of getting married and having a family someday?"
"I don't have hopes, I have plans. When I find a dick-head who's actually worth quitting this job for, I'm getting married..." Then she paused and stopped to look at him with a frown, no longer really scared now the cruiser was just several blocks away. "Why am I even telling you this anyway?"
He smiled, a toothy grin that exposed his fangs and which made her immediately flinch in shock, slamming her back against the wall. "...Because I want you." He finally stepped over the curb and stopped just in front of her.
With an expression of horror, she searched his face and didn't fail to see the pointy ends of his glinting fangs. "What the hell are you?"
"You really wanna find out?" He asked.
She hesitated and glanced at the cruiser in which two cops were seated. "You are not going to do anything to me, not when the cops are watching us!" She said, hopefully trying to scare him off again.
He cocked his head to the side with an expression that showed that he was trying to listen to what the cops were actually doing, which she thought was impossible at such a distance. "Watching us huh?" He suddenly returned his attention to her and smiled smugly. "The two dimwits are actually betting on who'd be first to screw the new female rookie at the station."
