"Can I have another drink?" She asked.

Jalil shook his head. "No, you have had enough. You just finished your third bottle."

"But, I'm not drunk." She protested.

"A drunk doesn't know he's drunk just like a mad man wouldn't know he's mad." He replied.

She pouted. "What kinda comparison is that?"

Jalil ignored her. Evelyn turned back and leaned against the counter again. She felt weary. "Is he even going to come?" She whined.

"I doubt your Mr. Nonexistent is going to come. We've been waiting for more than a hour now and no sign of him." Jalil said. "We need to leave, it will be 11:30 p.m. soon and this place will be occupied by night crawlers."

"Please, just thirty more minutes and if he doesn't come, I promise we will leave." She pleaded.

He regarded her for a moment and nodded. "Thirty minutes, nothing more."

She nodded and glanced back at the couch where she had seen Ramsey and Daphne earlier and to her surprise, they weren't there anymore. Where the hell did they go to? She scanned the dance floor and other parts of the club but didn't see any sign of them.

Jalil who had been watching her simply said. "He's gone. They left twenty minutes ago."

Evelyn slowly turned to look at him. "So, you did see him." She said, she should have known Jalil was very observant.

"Yes I did." He replied. "We shouldn't worry about that. Actually for a moment I thought you'd break down right here but you held on."

"I'm resilient." She said with little pride evident in her voice.

"No doubt." He stated. "What we should be worried about is him!" He gestured with his chin over his shoulder.

"Who?" She asked, puzzled.

"The guy with the tattoo, he's been staring at you for quite a while now and I don't like his look one bit."

Evelyn turned towards the direction Jalil had gestured at and indeed, a man with a cropped hair, chewing, was staring at her from the far side of the club. He had on a black jacket and black pants. His arms were tattooed, he had such a mean look and looked like a biker.

Evelyn quickly tore her gaze away. "I don't like him."

"Are you going to leave now then?" Jalil inquired.

"No." She said stubbornly. "Let's just hope all he continues to do is stare."

Jalil shook his head wearily. "Your stubbornness will be the death of you, Eve."

"I have heard that countless of times." She simply replied. "So can I have a drink now?"

"Water? Yes. Alcohol, hell no! You are tipsy enough. I don't want to have to carry you to the car in my arms nor to your dorm."

Evelyn smiled. "The ever caring friend. Your girlfriend will be incredibly lucky that's if you do decide to have one."

"Not after Ashley preferred my roommate's cock to mine in the guise of the fact thst we were in a platonic relationship." He said bitterly.

"But Jalil, that happened two years ago." She said softly.

"The wound is still fresh. I don't heal easily." He replied stiffly. "Every time I see her, it gets all worse. I even heard she now patronizes nightclubs in search of a fang."
