Sky's POV.
I close the door behind me, my father and I still staring at one another. I know I was just laughing at them a second ago, but I don't know how I should feel about this. I barely know Betty as much. She only told my dad and I about her childhood but I'm positive she must've told him more. Betty is nice, kind, and very sweet, but I want to get to know her more.
"Skylar, I can explain." He says and I raise up my hand in front of me.
"It's fine, I don't mind at all. Yeah, I was surprised at first, but if she makes you happy, dad, then it makes me happy even more." I say and my dad has a smile plastered on his face by my words.
"Really?" He asks in appreciation.
"Yes, of course. And Betty," I turned to her, my eyes locked with hers. "I'm really glad that you're supporting my dad and make him smile every day. Your presence is welcomed." My eyes begin to fill in my eyes and when I blink them away, one tear falls down my cheek. I'm a very emotional person.
Who isn't?
People who are heartless I guess.
I am fully aware that Betty walks up to me and gives me a tight hug. I returned it and I hear a sniffle come out from her.
"Thank you," She hugs me tighter and I nod in assurance. When we both let go, I walk over to my dad and welcome his open arms in front of of me, taking in his scent.
"I love you, Sky. I always will — you have no idea how happy I am to hear you say that." He runs his hands up and down my hair and back, and I nearly cry. It's what my mom used to do to me whenever I was having a bad day. The same gesture she would always give me.
"I know. I love you, too." I cover my mouth to prevent myself from hiccuping and make my way to the stairs. Out of the corner of my eye, I catch Betty and my dad embracing for a hug. I make it to the top of the stairs until I hear Betty's voice.
"She is such a wonderful girl." I can't help but cry, squeezing my eyes shut. God, this is so hard.
"She is. Just like her mother." I ran to my room and grab my diary. I like to write certain things in it on whatever is happening — something that makes me emotional and hits me like a truck. I grab a pen from my drawer and begin writing.
Dear Diary...
I begin to feel my eyes getting heavy by the time I am writing on the bottom of the page when I hear my phone go off. It vibrates on the other side of my bed and I reach across and retrieve it.
*Goodnight babe. I had an awesome day with you. See you tomorrow ;)* The message reads. Angel. My stomach flutters and I don't respond back, I just call him. He answers on the second ring.
"Hey, babe," His voice sounds so exhausted. He must be really tired. As for me, I should be asleep by now.
"Hey," I am at lost for words. I don't even know why I called him. I am so tired but I can't seem to fall asleep now.
"What's wrong?" He asks me.
"Nothing, I'm trying to fall asleep but I feel like I can't."
"Do you want me to come over?" He asks me.
