Chapter 34

It's been nearly three weeks into the semester already and I've never been happier with all the work I've put into my school work. Along with my relationship with Angel. I am falling in love with Angel more and more by the day and luckily, my father is feeling better than before. We had just seen the doctor the other day and the doctor claims that my dad is recovering pretty well with all the pain and medications ever since the car accident. Unfortunately, we still don't know who exactly caused the accident, but the police are still gathering more evidence and proof of what happened during the scene. My father and I hope they find that son of a bitch soon.

"Helloooo, Skylar. Are you even listening to me?" Anna asks me and I am taken aback from drifting away in my thoughts.

"Sorry, what did you say?" I ask her.

"I saw Aubree today. She was giving me shit today over nothing," Anna shakes her head in disappointment, sighing.

"Just don't let her get to you. She had nothing against us," I state while curling the tips of my hair with Anna's curling wand. I have got to buy myself one of these. They're very handy and useful.

We ended up having a girl's night for the weekend and I had planned on spending the night at her house. Anna and I also considered going out for the night, too. However, we decided to stay in and planned something else next time.

"Exactly, I know. But she really needs to let go whatever she had with Angel."

"Don't remind me. He pretty much told me about their past. I feel like everything she says is pointless. How can someone feel so good about themselves when all they do is talk down on someone or make fun of them?" Of all things I want to discuss about, this was not one of them since I just want to have a relaxing evening with my best friend. I barely even see Aubree and could care less what she does, but somehow finds a way to continue taunting me.

"Have you even caught her talking to Angel?" Anna asks me, her eyes glued to her laptop doing her typical online shopping.

"No, I rarely see her around on campus as much. The times I do, she always has this weird smug look on her face like disgust or something." By the time I finish my hair, even though we're not even going out, I unplug the curling wand from the outlet and place it back in Anna's bin where it belongs. I grab my laptop and books out of my book bag and start doing my homework for the evening.

Once I lay down on Anna's bed, she closes her laptop and sits up facing me with her legs crossed.

"I don't know how to say this, but I'm just going to say it - I've seen her talked to Angel a couple of times." Anna tells me slowly, and whispers it in a way that I almost barely heard her for a second.

No way. That can't be true. She has to be lying.

"Wh-what?" I ask her in disbelief.

Why hasn't Angel addressed this to me? Is he hiding something from me? Or telling me something that I don't know? Stop, Sky. You're just overthinking. Just breathe and relax.

"Yeah, I saw them talking yesterday after sixth period. He didn't tell you?" She looks at me with concern.

"No, of course not." I sigh, placing my hand to the side of my face and rest my head on the palm of my hand. "I'll address it to him when I get the chance. Thank you for letting me knowing about it."

"Of course. You know I got your back, right?"

"Definetly. I just wish I would've heard it from him, you know?"

"Yeah, I understand. But, it's better knowing now rather than later." Anna shrugs, attempting to lighten me up.

"You're right. That is very true." I smile. I have the greatest best friend in the world. No better feeling when a close friend of yours opens up to you and tells you the truth about anything. What more could I possibly ask for?

"Anyway, I don't want to talk about this any further. Just take it day by day and see how it goes, okay?" She places both of her hands on my shoulders, never breaking eye contact with me. I shake my head in agreement. She's right. I need to stop overthinking and plan this conversation in my head on how it will go out if I do it right.

"You're right. I'll try and do the best I can and see what I can do. I don't even want to make a scene out of it, though." I sigh.

"Sky, I know you better than anyone I know myself. You got this. It's just a conversation you want to have with him. There's nothing wrong with that. It's like what they say when communication is key or something like that," she claims and we both couldn't help but laugh together at how cute and helpful she's trying to get at with her advice.

I still appreciate her support for me and that I know she has my back, regardless.

The rest of the evening, we continue enjoying each other's company by watching movies, making popcorn and even went for a little walk with her dog. I left my phone in her room for the time being and by the time we make it back to her house, I had numerous missed calls and text message from Angel asking me where I've been and how come I haven't answered his calls. I ended up texting him good night and called it off for the rest of the evening. Usually, we always call or video chat with each other before we fall asleep. However, I just wanted to continue collecting my thoughts and enjoying my time with Anna for the rest of the weekend.

I turn my phone off completely and knock out as soon as I rest my head on the pillow.

"Goodnight Anna." I tell her and knock out within seconds. Dreaming of the boy I fell in love with with those beautiful brown eyes and tanned skin. But also with the girl who won't leave him alone and take rejection easily as it should be. If only she had known what was to come.
