I wake up from the sound of my phone going off. Why is my alarm on? I reach over and turn it off as I slump back down on my bed. Only for the next five minutes and I get up again. I turn off my TV before walking down the hallway, about to head downstairs until on cue, my dad walks out of his room.
"Where's your crutches?" I ask him. I didn't notice if he had them on last night or not when he came into my room to say good night.
"I'm healing. Betty says that the medication is strong to make you heal faster and I became better at my walking." The way he mentions Betty's name, makes his face form into a bright smile. My heart warms.
"That's great," I smile up at him and give him a hug.
"How was your day yesterday? Doing good in school?" He places his arm around my shoulders and I place mine around his back to support him walking down the stairs.
"It was good, and yes." I don't know if I should mention the party last night, and about me and Angel. I forgot that I didn't tell him, but I didn't want to bother him and Betty spending the majority of their day yesterday with one another.
By the time we reach the stairs, he heads towards the couch.
"Do you want me to make you some breakfast?" I offer. I'm willing to make him some food.
"No, Sky. It's okay." He brushes off but I'm not willing to take it.
"Scrambled eggs it is!" I yell from across living room and make my way into the kitchen. My dad burst into laughter throughout the whole entire room and I can't help but smile and put my hands on both of my hips, proud of my behavior.
"You can never take no for an answer when it comes to me," He says in between laughs as I open the refrigerator and grab the egg carton.
"Nope," I pop the P as I talked. Within ten minutes, I hand him a plate filled with scrambled eggs, bacon and bread and he thanks me before sitting up from his position on the couch. I take mine from the coffee table and dig in, along with my dad as he turns on the TV.
"Breakfast is the most important meal of the day." I remember my mom telling me that when I was only six. She taught me how to make simple things when making breakfast. It really is the most important meal of the day.
"I feel like you become better and better making breakfast," my dad compliments.
"Thanks to mom," I smile. When I look up, his smile grows.
"Yeah. Your mother was something," he sighs. I look down on my plate and continue eating. I feel the tears in my eyes fill up but I blink them away, preventing them from falling down on my cheek.
"So, you and Betty?" I ask him, changing the subject.
His eyes light up again at the mention of her name.
"She's wonderful, Skylar. She's helped me a lot even if I didn't need her. She's working at the hospital right now, but I'm going to take her out for dinner when she gets off." The sound of my heartbeat, beats behind my ears.
"To dinner?" I ask, my voice in amusement.
"Yes, to dinner." He chuckles. "Do you have plans for tonight or something?" He digs his fork into his scrambled egg and takes a bite.
"Well, I was wanting to ask you if I can..." Should I tell him about me and Angel? Am I ready to? I'm actually a little scared to tell him. What will his reaction would be like or what will he say? So many possibilities run into my head and I can't seem to stop them. Oh, God.
"Earth to Skylar?" His voice makes me startled and I shake my head.
"What?"
"You were gonna ask me something," he states and manages to stand up from the couch but I do before he does and grab his plate, along with mine.
