"are you sure you're feeling okay, valencia?"
her mother prodded her with questions as the pale faced girl tried to scoop up some chicken noodle soup that was freshly made. she took a small sip, winced slightly but then noticed her mother's stare, she gave a small smile as a sign she wasn't dying.
"i'm fine, don't worry," val muttered, her head facing down towards the green bowl.
next to her, she could hear her mother sighing,"how can i not worry about my one and only daughter when she's struggling through her precious life? valencia, you should be outside with your friends, laughing, losing track of time and coming back late, having me get angry at you for playing around too much. instead you're here, lonely and afraid of the outside world. and i as your mother, who gave birth to you, of course i would worry."
then came the tears. val let go of her spoon and turned to look at ceiling because she didn't want to see her mother crying. that was her biggest fear. she couldn't manage to see anyone else she cared get hurt because of her when she couldn't even look at herself in the mirror.
"i'm sorry i'm not normal, mom."
val then stood up from her stool, grabbed her coat, and went outside. anywhere to just have a minute to get herself together. it was 2:55 am.

"and one, two, three, one, two, three, and one, two, three, step. and we're good! nice job guys, we're getting there," the leader of the dance management shouted with glee, spinning around by the back of his heel.
taehyung gasped for air as he wiped the sweat off his forehead. he glanced at his other team members and wasn't surprised when he saw them launching themselves towards their water bottles.
"what the hell hoseok, how are you not tired after all that?" namjoon asked, taking in deep breaths of air once removing his lips from the bottle.
hoseok smiled at him and gave a thumbs up, "i've trained myself to sweat when i want to and not sweat when i don't want to."
"that's realistically impossi-"
"shh, nothing's impossible, namjoon." hoseok mysteriously whispered, covering namjoon's mouth thus cutting him off from finishing his sentence.
"please hoseok, teach me your ways," seokjin begged, holding a towel between his hands that were clasped, "dancing is literally going to be the death of me."
hoseok grinned as he showed off some of his b-boy moves he learned in the past, "nah jin hyung, you don't got the swag."
"you saying that makes you have 0% swag, fucker," yoongi slapped the back of hoseok's head as he walked past him to grab his phone.
"kook-ah! your hobi hyung has swag right?" hoseok pouted as he pleaded quietly for jungkook to agree. jungkook was about to shout back a mean comment but then heard hoseok continue,"and that means to smile and nod if you keep wanting those free b-boy dance lessons."
jungkook shut his mouth, smiled, and nodded slowly.
jimin who was laughing at all of this caught taehyung by the stare and jumped at him, "hey, it's not normal for you to be standing still all quiet. i thought you were fine?"
taehyung chuckled and unexpectedly placed jimin into a head lock, "oh c'mon chim, rule number one: never let your guard down!"
"let me go, bastard! fucking go to hell!" jimin protested with screams of curses as he tried to pry taehyung off.
"those 95 liners.. kook-ah, don't learn anything from them, no matter what. stick with me, the cool kid," yoongi smirked as he patted himself with admiration and pride.
now it was seokjin's turn to hit him in the head, "someone had to knock some sense into him."
jungkook secretly thanked seokjin for that and prayed for his glorious blonde hair.
"guys! did anybody realize it's fucking 2:23 am in the morning?" namjoon announced, messing with his hair.
"i did but i didn't say anything since nobody seemed to care," jungkook murmured as he observed his hyungs minding their own business, completely ignoring namjoon, "looks like no one still does."
as taehyung finally let go of jimin out of mercy, jimin counter attacked with a kick only to miss by a couple of centimeters.
"ha, your legs are too short. short legs right here everyone," taehyung teased as he stuck his tongue out at jimin.
jimin gave a huff as he raised up his middle finger so that taehyung could see crystal clear, "you suck, man."
taehyung laughed and sat next to jimin who was still trying to fill his lungs with oxygen. tae stared at his friend and noticed something he never saw before; two fresh scars on jimin's wrist were visible and immediately, taehyung took action.
getting a hold of jimin's left arm, taehyung pursued his lips once he saw jimin grimace with pain.
"jimin, what's wrong with your wrist? why haven't i seen them in the past? are you hurt? is anything bothering you? is anyone threaten-"
"tae, i'm okay. stop being so clingy, seriously," jimin snatched back his wrist harshly and stalked away into the dressing room, leaving taehyung on the ground with a negative expression on his face.
"tae! are you going home or not? jimin just left, not sure what's wrong with him but he said he was fine so are you-" namjoon stopped midway once he saw the younger shed a tear.
"tae? are you okay? what's wrong? is that sweat or are you crying?" namjoon asked as every siren in his brain went off.
taehyung couldn't stop thinking about jimin and what had just happened. even though namjoon was trying to gain his attention, he couldn't stop helping what he felt. his past and all the horrors he went through. then, the face of someone popped up.
"hyung, i'm fine but i got to go. thanks for your support, love you!" taehyung rushed his words, reached for his bag, and ran outside, the unfamiliar wind hitting him in the face.
he searched for his phone and pressed on the number he found not too long ago.
"hello? yeah, it's me again. we need to meet, now."
it was 2:56 am.
