"do you feel a little better? i brought you some water."
as taehyung placed the cup of water on the table next to the bed hyuna was lying down on, he sat on the foot of the bed. it's been an hour after the scene and hyuna, who pulled the sheets up all the way, refused to show her face to him. he tried to get her to talk but failed at least 3 times. this was his fourth and he hoped to himself it would be the last because he deserved an explanation as well.
"park hyuna. if you don't tell me what's going on right now, i'm going to walk out of that door and never talk to you again."
he waited for a minute and was about to actually leave when he heard rustling from the covers. hyuna's head poked out from underneath and slowly half of her body emerged from the bed. as she managed to pull herself up and lean on the bedpost, hyuna reached for the cup of water that taehyung brought a moment earlier and took a sip. taehyung crossed his arms and waited until she was ready to talk. once hyuna placed the cup carefully back on the table, she let out a huge sigh.
"t-taehyung-ah... my life's over," she muttered, clasping her own hands.
a sudden sympathetic expression came across taehyung's face as he himself let out a sigh like hers.
"hyuna... if you tell me everything from the start, we can fix this together. i don't know how, but we can and we will," he reassured, crouching in front of her so he could see her devastated and exhausted face.
hyuna for a split second smiled towards the boy but narrowed her eyes away from his face. she decided to tell him the story without a single lie. because at this point, she was just thankful for the fact that taehyung didn't leave her as everyone else did.
--
"lee eden."
the lean muscled boy turned towards the direction he heard his name being called and clicked his tongue once he realized it was kim taehyung. they hadn't talked since that night and ever since then, eden treated taehyung as if he was invisible.
"i need to talk to you."
eden rolled his eyes and walked past taehyung, nudging him harshly along the way. he opened his locker and pulled out a dry towel to wipe his sweat from practice earlier. taehyung swallowed his saliva and shoved his hands into his pockets.
"eden, look. you never gave me the chance to explain what happened that night."
eden slammed the locker shut enough for the neighbor lockers to rattle from the impact. he glared daggers at taehyung.
"explain? what was there to explain kim taehyung? you were fucking my girlfriend. i don't want any more details, no thanks," eden growled.
"it's not like that! choi yeonhui fed hyuna alcohol while they were in the tent together. i heard someone in the middle of the night and it was hyuna, drunk because she was fed that blue champagne we had. also, it looked like we were banging because she mistook me for you. remember that time we both dyed our hair ash grey? since hyuna was drunk, she thought that i was you. hell, she wouldn't stop calling out your name even when she was drunk," taehyung confessed.
for a minute, he swore that he could see a flash of regret on eden's face. but it soon hardened into a grim one.
"it doesn't matter anymore. she still lied to me. you saw that poster earlier. that's park hyuna when she was in middle school. everything she said in her years here was all just lies, taehyung-ah. why are you trying to help her?"
taehyung couldn't say the truth, of course.
"because i know that she's not the type of girl to purposefully lie to people who she loves. you should as well if you've been dating her for the past 3 years. plus, she has her own reasons why. i just heard them and it was because of her past. you should understand out of everyone, eden."
eden winced. that's right. he also had a sore past, with everyone joking about his girlish looks and thin body.
'maybe... i'll try to contact hyuna. maybe,' eden thought.
"anyways, don't get involved with the rumors now that i've told you the absolute truth. it'll end up hurting hyuna more and i know that you still have feelings for her." taehyung said before opening the door to the men lockers and leaving eden behind in the dim lighted room.
throwing the towel into a nearby basket along with the rest of the used ones, eden sighed. resting his back on the lockers, he pulled out his phone and went into his photo library. the most recent pictures were of him and hyuna having a picnic at hangang river. they were having the time of their lives, enjoying each other's company. they were so happy with one another for such a long time. how could a single incident destroy all the times they spent together? eden shook his head and pressed the message app.
he was going to fix the issue before it was too late.
--
a buzz softly rung from hyuna's phone as the notification popped up. hyuna stirred in her sleep, still taking a rest in the nurse's office. then a mysterious hand picks up her phone swiftly. with a heavy sigh, the stranger swipes left and presses the delete button.
"i'm sorry, but it's for the best. for both of you."
returning the phone to its original position, the stranger leaves the innocent girl behind and closes the door behind him.
