"valencia, sweetie. please, come out. what has gotten into you again all of a sudden? i thought you were getting better..."

the desperate pleas from val's mother were muffled through the door as the heartbroken girl sat in the corner, her head buried between her chest and her legs. she was back in the starting line. the progress she made over the past few months dissolved away ever since park jimin told her the truth and the motive behind taehyung's actions towards her. now anna came back and tormented her even worse than ever.

she threw up three times a day and sometimes refused to eat her medicine. she had taped up all the mirrors in her room and closed the blinds shut. not a single ray of light entered her room. it was full of darkness. just like the state she was in these past few days. soon, there was another knock on her door.

"val... honey... someone's here to see you. his name's kim taehyung. he wants to talk to you."

a flare of fury gave her enough energy to throw a pillow at the door, making the wooden barrier shake.

"I DON'T WANT TO SEE THAT LYING PIECE OF SHIT EVER. TELL HIM TO GO DIE IN A PIT!" she screamed, squeezing her eyes shut.

"valencia! just what is going on?!" her mother asked, her voice full of concern and desperation at her daughter's outburst.

outside the front door, taehyung stood with his lips sealed tight. after his fight with jimin, he had gotten into a taxi and immediately provided the driver the directions to val's house. he wanted to fix things with her. he wanted to make up for his actions. he couldn't afford to lose her. not the second time.

"mrs. lee do you mind if i...?"

val's mother sadly nodded before coming down the stairs. taehyung took a deep breath and slowly walked up the steps, one by one. he knew that val was in the worst state right now. anyone would if they found out that someone who they had trusted backstabbed them where it hurt. finally, as he reached the front of val's door, he leaned on it and let out a heavy sigh.

"i know you hate me. no, hate is too light of a word for your feelings towards me right now. you probably detest me, think i'm a disgusting piece of shit or want me to go jump off a cliff. you probably can't figure out why i sent you those emails or believe it's because i'm just a sick person that enjoys others in pain."

there was silence on the other side. taehyung knew it was a good sign because it meant that at least she was listening. he continued, "but i came here to tell you and explain everything. i can't afford to see you like this. you were doing so well; you were getting rid of anna. i can't let you return back to your old self because of what i did. so hear me out from now on, okay? what i'm about to tell you might be a lot to take in but i want you to know that i didn't cause this all for my own entertainment."

and so he told his story and how the incident traumatized him to become like this today. after he finished, taehyung anxiously waited for a response.

"what do you want me to say kim taehyung?"

his eyes fluttered at the unexpected question.

"do you want me to pity you at this point? say, 'oh no... i can't believe that happened to you in the past. i completely forgive you for toying with my feelings and i. let's go and have some food.' is that what you expected me to say? if you did, what the fuck do you take me for? i'm a person with my own past as well and my own pain. don't expect me to forgive you for using my trauma against me because of the result of your own sob story. you and i are two different people with different lives."

taehyung was truly astonished at her words. he had never thought of that, which now reveals that all along, this was all because he couldn't leave the past in the past. biting his bottom lip, he slid down the door and sat facing the wall.
