-one year later-
Marinas pov
It's been a year as I sighed as was getting ready. Today was an emotional day since it's been a year since Paul died. It doesn't help that not even 7 months after that Joey was kicked out of the band so the guys have been looking for new drummer and bassist and mourning over Paul still. No matter who they get, no one will be as good as Paul. I French braided my hair into pigtails since Paul thought I looked good with my hair like that. I my make up like normal but wore black matte lipstick today. The restaurant was ok. Not where I wanted to be in my life but oh well hopefully I can find something better. I put on my outfit and grabbed my keys. I didn't feel like riding to work today so I got into my car.
I clocked in and looked at where I was and everything. My phone buzzed in my pocket. I quickly pulled it out while I was in the back and looked to see it was Sid.
Sid: hey Marina. Wondering if you wanted to get lunch with me and the guys in a little bit?"
Hey. I would love too but I can't. I'm at work and I don't get off till 5.
Sid: damn. Maybe we can swing by and pick you up after your shift and hang out at your place if your up to it? We do want you to meet someone.
Sounds good. I'll text you when I'm off and I drove my car today so I'll just meet you guys at my place. And ok. Can't wait to meet them. Later Sid.
Sid: bye. See you then.
I looked out and saw I had a table of five guys. I sighed as I gave them a few minutes before I walked up to them.
" hello. My names Marina and I will be your waitress today. What can I get you guys to drink?" They told me their orders.
" hey do you got a boyfriend because you are quite sexy. " one of them asked laughing. I don't want to deal with people like this today. Just not today.
" no I don't but why judge me by my cover. " I walked into the back getting them their drinks.
" those boys giving you a hard time?" I looked and saw Kassie. Me and her became good friends after I started working here and she knew that today was gonna be rough day.
" not really. Nothing I don't get on a daily. " she sighed.
" if they keep bothering you I will take over. I want you to have a good day" she said giving me a soft smile. I smiled hugging her.
" thanks Kassie. I'll let you know if they get worse " she nodded as I took their drinks out to them.
" hey let me take you out tonight. I can show you the best night of your life. "
" well I already have plans with friends. "
"Forget them. "
" I will not. Today would be a year since my best friend died so I feel I should be with them since he was a brother to us all. If that's what you wanted to hear. "
" who died. "
" Paul gray. "
" wait. Isn't he from that horrible band. What's their name? Knot something. "
" Slipknot "
" yea. They are horrible. Kayne west is so much better. Bet he's been around longer and more successful " ok that's it.
" sorry that Slipknot is not your cup of tea but is mine so lay off. I'm not a fan of Kanye but I'm not going around saying shit about him. Plus Slipknot have been around for 10 years so don't even pull that one. "
" you like Slipknot?"
" yes I do. They are the friends I'm hanging out with. What does that make me a total turn off now? Just because I like different music."
" yea kinda but I'd still fuck you but get rid of the braids and dark makeup. They make you look stupid. " I was about to strangle this guy but his friend butt in.
" hey dude. She looks fine the way she is and yea so what if she likes a certain band. Even if you don't like them can't you show her some sympathy for her lost. "
" what. Do you like Slipknot too. "
" well yea actually. They are pretty good I'm sure you haven't ever heard their music before. Just judged them by their looks and the masks which are pretty bad ass. To be honest I don't know why I'm friends with a close minded asshole. " he said standing up.
" could I move to that table by myself? I would not like to sit with these assholes "
" of course. I'll still be your server. I'll just be right back " he nodded. I walked over to Kassie
" wanna deal with those guys as I deal with him over there?" She nodded.
" what did they do."
" that douche in the middle insulted my style and Paul. Plus the rest of Slipknot. I couldn't care less about myself but they can't go and do that to Paul. "
" who's Paul?" Chris budded in. He's like David. Followed me around like a puppy dog. He always had to butt in if I was talking about a guy.
" Paul is my best friend who died on this day a year ago. " he nodded.
" I'm sorry about your loss. Pretty sure he was a good guy. " I nodded my head. I walked out to the guy as he smiled.
" you ready to order?"
" yes. " he told me his order as I wrote it down.
" by the way my name is Steven"
" nice to meet you Steven. Thanks for sticking up for me. It's been pretty rough day as it is "
" yea I know the feeling. It was horrible the day I found out Paul died. He was a big inspiration. I got to meet him once. He seemed like an awesome guy. Jim and Mick are the main reasons I started playing guitar. " I smiled.
" yea. Paul way the main reason I started playing bass. Their music helped me in the time I lost my dad. "
" same with me but it my mom. My dad married my step mom and she's such a bitch. She doesn't even love him. "
" same with my step dad but my moms a bitch too. I'll be right back. I'm gonna take care of your order and deal these table around me " he nodded as I walked over and out his order up.
" did you find yourself a boyfriend Gothy" I rolled my eyes at Kyle, the cook, who also hits on me.
" no I didn't but I did find a friend. I already like someone else but yea "
" who?"
" why do you wanna know "
" just wanna make sure it's not that Chris guy"
" trust me. It's not him. It's my good friend Sid but I'm sure he's not interested. I rather not ruin our friendship anyway" I shrugged. He didn't know him so who cares. Kyle can be a dick but he can be pretty nice at times so I didn't worry.
" get back to work Gothy. You got tables. " I rolled my eyes as I walked to my other tables and did my hub taking care of them. I ended up getting Stevens number before he left. He seems like a nice guy. Hopefully he doesn't hit on me like everyone else.
