Chapter 15 - The Choice
Kayla P.O.V
Five minutes after pulling out of the driveway of the main house, Don surprised me as we pulled up to the edge of a little village which housed the Blood Moon pack members. I glanced at him uncertainly, wondering what we were doing here.
Let's face it; the rest of the pack hated me and my family. At first, things were bad and I wondered why my dad chose to stay here but after a while the people somewhat accepted our presence but there were many who still openly showed their hostility towards us. I've never been to this part of Blood Moon territory. My family mainly used the stores and shopping area in the human towns so as to avoid the pack members and their abuse.
As we pulled up to the little village, I was amazed at how developed it looked. It looked like a miniature version of Hatsville. From as far as my eyes could see, there were several businesses around including a supermarket, hardware, general store and diner Several large houses which housed the majority of the pack members could also be seen from where I sat.
"Um, Don, what are we doing here?" I asked hesitantly. I noticed several people giving us strange looks through the car window. "I don't think my being here is such a good idea. I mean you pack practically hates me and my family."
Don turned to me and I saw his eyes darkened at my words. "Who has been mean to you since you've returned?" he demanded.
"No one," I quickly told him. "This is my second day here remember. I haven't been outside the main house since I've gotten here."
Don eyes turned back to normal as he let out the breath he was holding.
"Don't worry Kayla, no one is going to be mean to you or your family anymore." Don assured me as he took my left hand in his. I felt comforted instantly by his touch.
"So what are we doing here exactly?" I asked him curiously.
"Well, I know you never came to the village before and you never really met any of the pack except for those you've probably met in more human areas, so I wanted to show you around a bit," Don told me uncertainly.
"I don't think your pack is just going to welcome me with open arms," He opened his mouth to protest but I stopped him before he could say anything. "Don, I am a rogue. I am not from your pack and after what I heard happened to your mom, I don't think they are going to welcome me just like that."
"Kayla, they are not going to be mean to you." Don insisted. "The circumstances are different and you are my mate and their future Luna."
I was shaking my head at him but he ignored me.
"I know you haven't accepted either of us but I still have hope that you will accept me one day. And either way, if you choose one of us, you're still going to be our pack's future Luna. Which means, you need to get to know them and they need to get to know you. I don't want to rush you into anything but I just thought we could spend the day together and let them get accustom to seeing you around. You don't need to talk to anyone if you don't want too. We are just going to enjoy ourselves a bit."
I was skeptical about the whole idea but then I felt confused. 'Why would Don want me to meet his pack but he never told Jack or Marcus that I was his mate?'
"Don, before we get out of the car, can I ask you something?" I asked tentatively.
"Sure," Don replied slowly. "Go ahead."
"Why didn't you, or Draven, tell Jack or Marcus that I am your mate?" Don's face was unreadable and I could see the gears turning in his head. He then let out a resigned sigh before he admitted.
