C16 ~ Ashes Ashes

I stand in the mirror, I was getting changed to go talk to Carl. I check my brown hair now getting greasy from not showering in three days. I look at the wound on my cheek.  It was pretty deep and Denise said as long as I change my bandage every day it won't get infected. But it made my cheek bloated and unappealing.  Carl doesn't want to kiss me because, "he's afraid he'll hurt me." Like its my cheek not my lips, gosh.

I walk out of the house and see Carl standing on the street talking to someone I've actually never seen before. I walk over to him but don't pay attention to their conversation. I look around, Deanna was standing on the guard post looking at Maggie, Michonne and Rosita. All of the sudden someone screamed out, "Open the gate!" It was Rick. They opened the gate and there was Rick running from a herd towards the gates. They opened the gate and he pushed one down before running in. As the gates closed Walkers pressed up against it. I looked to Carl. He looked down to me and pulled me into a hug. "We're gonna be okay," he whispers into my ear.

~time skip~

It's been a little bit since the herd came. Rick was now giving the Alexandrian's a speech about the walkers. Me and Carl were standing beside Eugene and Tara. I looked to Ron and he had his hand placed on a gun holster. That ass stole a gun? I sigh, I'm probably going to have to take care of that.

Deanna started walking away and so did Rick. I guess this meeting is over. Me and Carl go back to the house to check on Judith. As we were walking past the armoury I heard Maggie and Arron talking about going over the walls.

When we got back to the house. Judith was still fast asleep. She sure does sleep a lot.. And I mean a lot. Carl was watching her like she was the most precious thing in the world. I wish he looked at me like that.

I lean back on the window seal and stare at him. What did I do to deserve him. I smile to myself.

We walk out of Judith's room and down stairs. "So what are you doing today?" I ask him.

"I'm going to see if anyone has seen Enid, she went over the wall before the herd so she might still be out there."

Uhg it's all Enid this, Enid that with him.

"I'll go find her with you!" I say in the brink of the moment.

"What?" He asks clearly confused in my statement.

"Well you want to find her so badly, so I'll help you." I restate.

"But, your wound" he stutters pointing to my cheek.

"It's not that bad, I can still do stuff." I say shrugging.

He nods, "Okay, but only if you want to."

"I've been dying to get out of here anyways, I think this place is making us weaker." I tell him honestly.

"Well we can't go over the walls, so we'll have to find another way. Tell me if you do." He says then kisses me. We both walk outside. He heads to where Ron is knifing the grass and I just walk down the streets. I see Maggie and Aaron walking to the middle of a field. I furrow my eyebrows and hide behind a tree to see what they're doing.

Aaron bends down and starts unscrewing a hatch. He lifts it up and places it on the grass. Then they climb down the hole. I remember back to when Carl and I passed the armoury, they were talking about going over. Maybe that's another way out of the walls.

I run over the Carl. "I found a way out," I whisper yell. He looks to Ron who was laying on his back in the grass. "You coming?" Carl asks him. Ron keeps talking to him but Carl runs over to me.

"So how do we get out?" He asks looking at the walls. I take his head and point it to the ground where the sewer hole was. "Oh hell no," he seriously states.

~time skip~

We had gotten into the hole, it smelt horrible down here but if it means we can get out, it's worth it. We be as quite as we can so Maggie and Aaron don't hear us. We hear some water splashing and heavy breathing up ahead. They were talking. We heard them walk away so we move ahead. There was two walkers laying dead in the water. We look to each other and keep moving. We stop when we can hear them talking.

"No!" Maggie yelled, "It's over!" Then growls of walkers. They must be against the gate.

"I burned his last picture of me, because I said he wasn't gonna need it anymore, because I was never gonna be away from him again." She tells him.

Me and Carl look to each other, he nods his head back the way we came, they were going to start heading back so we started to leave. We stopped in our tracks when she said, "I'm pregnant"

We turn to each other, look away and keep walking away from them. I keep listening to their conversation as we walk away. I wanted to run back and give her a hug.

When we got to the the opening we climbed out and ran back to the house.
I gave a Carl a hug. A long hug. I didn't want to let go, and I got the feeling he didn't either.

"Hope, I really do love you, and I feel like we've both changed since that day we met. We're not as clueless and spontaneous as we used to be. And I miss the Hope I fell in love with at the prison. But I don't want to get rid of the Hope I'm crazy in love with now." He whisper talks while still hugging me.

I pull away my arms still wrapped around his neck. "What are you trying to say?" I ask playing with the hairs at the back of his neck.

"I guess I'm trying to say, is I never want to spend another day without you. Maggie really got me thinking. If I were to die tomorrow, I'd want to be with you. I'd want to be able to say I love you one last time. I want you to promise me that'd you'll be by my side," he takes a breath, "I want you to promise me that we'll be together till the end"

I smile at the thought of Carl and I growing old together.

"I promise"

Hey lovelies! Really hope you enjoyed this chapter. It was hard for me to write because I had to say that whole thing out loud to myself in the mirror and I couldn't stop smiling so it really help me connect with the story but at the same time, I was getting really excited about it and kept making typos. And then I thought about what's gonna happen in the next couple chapters and I wanted to cry.... No spoilers.

So he asked her to stay by his side! So cute! I actually had written this chapter ending in a completely different way that I now find really stupid after reading the rest of the comics. So I'm sorry to those who read the original chapter, it was really stupid and unrealistic. Well I hope you enjoyed this chapter.
