Today was the big day, and no surprise, Tom and Sam found out about Adam and I. We were walking down the hallway where i got shot in the leg. You know its all normal. Adam and I are at my locker. I can't believe we are actually together. I never thought of us being together ever.
"So Violet," Adam said. We were very close together. "Yes" "Well I was wondering if you had the day off this weekend." He told me. "Yes I do I took it off for a very particular reason." I told him. "Ohohoho! Well I know your plan now. We can go to Memorial Park, then go sight -seeing, then maybe catch a movie." "Not that kind of plan. I'm going shopping with my mom on Saturday, and going to Hard Rock with her on Sunday." I explained. "Wait, did I hear right? Did you say, shopping with your mom? Explain. now.
"Well lets just say two things, Chad got caught and she found the missing piece of her heart." I told him. "I'm so happy, can i at least eat with you guys." "Yeah of course." He looks so happy. You know how I can tell. His blue-green eyes get bluer and richer. When he's angry or scared his eyes are greener. And when he's sad or tired his eyes are more blue-gray. I guess I have liked him more than I thought. He pulled me into a kiss. I hold on to his arm, and he winced. "Ooh ouch!" "I'm sorry I almost forgot how hot it was when you saved my life." I told him. He kissed me again, and stroked my black - slightly purple hair, and I held on to his neck. We were about to go at it again, but Tom and Sam were standing there. "We were sorry to interrupt the make out session, but we are here to tell you that Ms. Pritchard is declaring a war in an email sent to me she says and I quote ' You wanna play games, let's play our little game then'."
"Oh well let's get to work. Let's talk about it later." I said. DING DING DING DING Oh well that's the bell. Adam grabs my hand and we all go to Mrs. Sanderson's class. We take a seat, and let's just say word spreads quickly. Everyone is talking about Adam and I and are so happy for us.
"Violet!", said my teacher, "you're a lifesaver I just want to commemorate you on your courage, honor, and bravery in helping me in the best way possible. You all see, this is what we are talking about today. Nathan Hale, Patrick Henry, Harriet Tubman, Paul Revere, Dr.Martin Luther King JR. now what do they all have in common, huh? They all have courage, bravery, a cause. They have a drive, and a why to do what's right in their eyes and in their heart. Now this is the question for all of us, Why? Why would you guys ever have the courage to stand up to that b**ch for me? That makes me wonder, Violet, tell me your Why?"
I fidget around and stand up from my chair. "Well Mrs Sanderson, I can't put my thoughts into it, but what I can all put into it is that I was fighting for something more than just you, definitely more than just me, and more than just this very class itself. I fought for a better Mrs Sanderson, a more better me, a more better family, and a more better school, and most of all the safety of us. And if that means a shot in the leg, threats, and battles, so be it. That is my Why." I walk back , and sit into my seat. My father would be so proud of me. Applause was a banging sound in my ear, but it soon stopped. What I said to the police later that day, what I described I mean was that everything was slow motion. From the clapping soon getting slower in my ear, a siren sounded in the intercom. And the voice of Grace, the secretary, was of " Gunman, gunman in the building, danger, danger, code red, code red." Sam spoke to me in my ear, "Something is fishy about this code red, its way too outspoken, too obvious." We have never practiced this sort of drill before, and I can see why. All of the classes were running in the hallway like a crazy stampede of bison. Running to and fro in the hallways. I stood up and gave them the signal and we headed out with our guns and headed to the office. Discreetly of course. We ran to to the office and in the front door I can see Ms Pritchard laughing with Grace drinking some sort of clear liquid in a tumbler, and its not water. "Oh deary look who we have here, Violet Smith, junior year, 1st place in UIL of Atlanta. Well sister, you want to play games let's play games in the gym see you in 2 minutes, and don't you dare be late." she tells us. "Why does she send us secret notes if we already know its her already?" Tom asks. " I have no idea, but we have to go and see what she tries to throw at us." I said.
We enter the gym. When we were looking outside we see a bunch of students in the park frantically asking everyone to see what was happening. I saw at least 12 dodge balls in the center of the court. Ha a dodge ball game ,how petty. "What's this?" Adam asks. "I'm glad you asked Adam, I'm glad you asked." she said. Click Clack, Click Clack. "These are not your ordinary dodge balls these are bomb dodge balls. If you get hit you obviously die. So in 3,2,1 lets ---" "Hey let us have a game plan first gurl. " I said. "Fine I'll give you two minutes make it a quick one"
"So guys this looks a little scary but I know we can do this. It's just like dodge ball, except...well...deadly. But what I was thinking was we shoot the dodge balls back so they go on their side a get them." Adam said. "Wow that's genius, hun." I said. We got back in position. "Now since we had to have our little break. In 3,2,1 Go!" she said. Grace threw a ball at me. Let's just say she's not a good thrower. I shot it in mid air and it went to the other end where the stage was. This lady is a complete idiot for the idea she should know that the teachers a horrible at aiming balls. One by one we shoot them back. Samantha quickly goes to the nearest telephone. Tom follows her and goes to find Mrs. Sanderson's husband. Sam looks at me and says, "Violet look out!" I saw the bomb go at me and I jumped back and shot it outward, except some of the remains hurt my bad leg. "Adam! Adam! Help!" He goes to help me, but Ms Pritchard throws one into the basket. "EVERYONE MOVE OUT OF THE WAY!" I told the class. BOOM! I guess that was the big daddy one. We all go swinging out of place. It took two minutes for the ambulances to arrive at the scene. It takes 5 to get the police. Tom came with Mrs. Sanderson and her husband. We all cheer and rejoice for the victory that was truly ours. The police came and got Ms Pritchard following her into the patrol car. All the students came in again. (I mean all that didn't go home. ) Everyone was in shock. Adam picked me up in his arms and carried me outside to the ambulance. He looked at me with his big green eyes. He was scared. My leg felt very weak. He placed me in the ambulance and got in himself. Fortunately he was safe.
What is our why? Our why is to stand up for what we believe in even if that means certain death.
