I brushed my fringe out of my face and slid my sunglasses onto my face, entering the school gates and grinning at Connor he was to the left of me.
"So how's your prom date thing coming along?" He questioned, knocking my elbow with his.
"Shut it Con, you know what's going on." I muttered, we paraded through the ground and up the stairs, entering the doors and rolling our eyes at the business. I took a step forward but an arm reached out in front of me and brought me to a halt, I looked to my right and spotted Mr.Hill, one of the science teachers.
"I suggest you remove those glasses Mr Mcvey, you're not one of the T-Birds from Grease." I laughed before lowering the glasses down to the bridge of my nose,
"We're the new generation of T-Birds sir," his facial expression didn't budge from a stern look, despite my attempt to crack some humour.
"Just take them off Mcvey, you don't look cool or hip, you look like a fool."
"I'll have you know sir I'm very sophisticated, I know my rights from wrong and I'm very responsible, I'm not a fool." I replied, removing the glasses from my face.
"Guess you better start acting like that then eh?" I glanced behind me to see Ella stood with her friends, staring directly at me.
"I do act that way." She raised her eyebrow and nodded a little,
"Oh really? You have a real strange way of showing it." And with that, she turned on her heels and marched away. Connor's mouth opened slightly to say something but I silenced him and walked away from Mr.Hill who was in hysterics, it wasn't even a funny moment.
I secured my bag onto my back and chased after Ella, placing my hand on her shoulder and turning her round.
"Get off me James." She snapped, I removed my hand and placed it into my pocket, taking my bottom lip inbetween my teeth.
"Look el, we gotta talk," she shook her head at me,
"We've got nothing to talk about James, but I'm sure Luna would love a chat." Her friends laughed lightly and they all walked away to their dorm room, leaving me with a wall of silence. I let out a loud sigh and managed to hunt down Tristan before heading off to our form room.

A few hours had passed and it was now time for our PE lesson and I was determined to sort things out with El in here, I already knew the classes were going to be mixed with girls and boys again and we were doing some work with the maps - the perfect excuse to somehow get 'lost'. I changed into my kit and took a seat on the bench, waiting for the girls to enter.
"You do realise you've completely ruined your chance at taking El to prom," Brad said, taking a seat next to me.
"No, I haven't, and that doesn't mean you can try and take her either." His eyes widened and he held his hands up in defence,
"Listen, I don't want her J, yeah she's cute and stuff but we had a bet, a bets a bet, now go and sort your bet out before you lose the b-"
"I swear down if you say bet once more I won't hesitate to punch you." He chuckled and nudged my shoulder as the girls sauntered in, their hairs tied back in pony tails or buns and a lack of excitement coming from them. To be fair, I'm not excited to be doing orienteering either.
The teacher took the register and took it upon themselves to place us in groups, using the typical '1,2,3,4,5' technique until you all ended up in your groups. I pulled my head away as I was labelled a '4' and stood up, waiting to find out what group Ella had been put in. The teacher pointed out different areas for the numbers and people gradually made their way over to their groups, however I noticed El was a '3' and I was a '4'. I grabbed Tristan's arm and pulled him back,
