I paced back and forth, waiting for James to appear. I hated being alone in parks, they gave me a bad feeling. I bit my lip anxiousy as I waited for him to turn up,
"Hey." I jumped at James' deep voice, I turned around and he chuckled quietly.
"Come on, I'm not that scary."
"I wasn't expecting you to sneak up on me." He wrapped his arms around me and hugged me tightly.
"I didn't mean to scare you, sorry." I wriggled out of his arms,
"It's fine. I've got this." I took my bag off my back and opened it, pulling out his top and handing it to him. He laughed and slowly took it from me, chucking it into his backpack.
"You know you're not like the other girls." I couldn't help but laugh, as soon as he said it I thought of an old cheesy romance movie.
"How?" I finally asked,
"Most girls would jump at the chance to keep a guys top or hoody when he gives them to her, but you just give it back almost immediately." I shrugged slightly,
"I don't see the fascination in keeping it, it's just a piece of clothing. If they wanted it that bad then they could go out and buy it themselves." He swung his arm around my shoulder and pulled me into him laughing,
"That's what I like about you, you're different." I rolled my eyes and shrugged him off again.
"I wonder how many girls you say that too." He frowned at me,
"I don't say it to girls really because they're all the same, hence why you're different." I left him pondering about what he had just said and strolled through the park, he trailed behind me like a lost puppy.
"Are you just going to keep silent now or are you going to tell me why you called me here?" I asked, fixing my hair.
"I think I have a way of making your audition better." He grinned, biting his lip lightly. I tried to ignore how hot he looked and focus on what he'd just said.
"Alright, how can you help?" He stepped in front of me,
"Have a live band play for your audition!" He cheered, I froze in my spot. There are so many reasons why that wouldn't work,
"What if the band didn't show up? Or they couldn't make it on that day? What if we couldn't find one in time, I don't know James." He placed his finger under my chin and lifted my head up.
"I've got that sorted-ish, I'm in a band and we're willing to play for you!" I frowned at him before laughing,
"First things first, I don't know what you guys sound like live. Secondly, you might not be able to play the song we dance to and third, do you really think the boys will want to come and perform for us? I doubt it." He moved his hand from my face and laced our fingers,
"I'll make sure they do, but Tris seems to like you so I'm sure he won't turn you down. I bet we can play the song, if not we'll learn it, it can't be that bad. And finally, you can hear what we sound like by coming to our gig this weekend?" He began walking, pulling me along with him.
"I'm supposed to have plans with the girls this weekend," I sighed, he shrugged.
"Bring them with you! Please El I really want to see you there in the crowd." He begged,
"Fine, I'm guessing that's on Saturday night?" He nodded,
"There's a party after too if you're interested." I hesitated,
"I'm not sure about parties, they aren't my thing..." I trailed off, he let go of my hand and slid his arm around my waist, pulling me into his chest. He was so touchy feely today,
"They don't have to be your thing, I want to see you there too. I'll take care of you, promise." I rested my head on his chest,
"Well what about my friends?" He squeezed me tightly,
"They can come too, I'll make sure the boys take care of them if they need it. Come on, please?" I looked up and sighed in defeat,
"Fine, I'll text the girls." I pulled away from James and turned around, unlocking my phone to text the girls. James wrapped his arms around my waist and watched as I messaged them, resting his chin on my shoulder. I finished typing and slid my phone back into my pocket,
"Don't move yet." I stayed still and he fumbled in his pocket before bringing his phone round in front of us,
"Take a selfie with me." He whispered,
"Why?" I mumbled, cringing as the front camera came on and I appeared.
"So when girls try and hit on me I can say I'm taken."
"But you're not."
"They don't need to know that." He chuckled sending vibrations down my back. He leant round and kissed my cheek softly, I flashed a toothy grin and he pressed the button, snapping the picture. He let go of me and smiled,
"I didn't say you could kiss me." I said, raising my eyebrow.
"Sorry, I won't do it again unless you want me to." He said, resting his forehead on mine.
"I need to go home James, I'm babysitting." He lifted up and took my hand, once again.
"I'll babysit with you, come on." He skipped along and I ran to keep up with him, laughing slightly.
"You don't have to, I'm capable of doing it on my own." He shrugged his shoulders,
"I haven't seen you for that long today though, so I'll help out for a bit." I nodded and we walked back to my house.
