Leo's P.O.V.
Chores. I've always hated them. I believe every kid hates chores unless they're getting paid, then they can tolerate it. Everyone on the ship was doing some sort of chore per say. They were helping me repair the ship after the damage from 'shrimpzilla' as Percy would say it. While everyone was making the ship nice and tight, Alyssa and I were in the engine room fixing up everything that was damaged. It was pretty quiet in the room, not an awkward one but a peaceful one. I was under a machine working my magic once Alyssa spoke up.
"How were those brownies Leo?" She asked. I was super confused to say the least. Out of all the conversations starters, she picks that one. I chuckled and pulled out from underneath the machine I was working on. Once I was in the clear I saw a very ticked off girl with her arms crossed over her chest. I cracked a smile, finally knowing what this was all about.
"Oh those brownies. They were delicious! Once you popped it into your mouth it just melted right than and there. It tasted heavenly." I pointed at the tool box next to her. " Can you pass me the screw." I finished saying. She rolled her eyes and handed me the tool. "Thank you." I rolled back under the machine. "Didn't you have one?" I licked my chapped lips and unscrew the screw. She huffed out loud.
"Actually I didn't. You ate my brownie." I rolled out from under the machine once again.
"Did I? I don't recall." She glared at me. "Wrench por favor." She handed me the wrench and I went back under.
"Yea! You did and I was really looking forward to it." Alyssa said with an annoyed voice. I finished what I was doing and finally pulled out from under the machine for the last time. I stood up and took a red rag from my back pocket and wiped away some of the smeared oil and sweat. Alyssa stood there patiently with arms crossed, waiting for an answer. I threw my arms up.
"Well would you like me to throw it up for you?" Alyssa scrunched up her nose in disgust and shook her head. "Well than what would you like me to do then?" I asked while moving closer to her. We were inches apart from each other. I could hear her breathing.
"How 'bout we make a deal." She said while putting her hands onto my chest. I bit my lip.
"I like deals." I whispered back. She leaned into my ear and said,
"I get to ask for one thing, anything at any time and you can't say no to my request." She pulled back and smiled.
"And if I don't agree?" She smirked. I gulped.
"Do you really want to know what will happen to you if you say no?" She asked in a very creepy sweet voice. I shivered at the thought. I shook my head. She grinned.
"Good. I think I'm done here." She pushed me aside and walked out the door.
Alyssa's P.O.V.
All I asked for was a nice goodnight sleep. No dreams, no ancient monsters attacking, just a nice quiet night where I close my eyes and am able to sleep in for once in my life. But NO, Hera forbid I just have a lovely night to do just that! I just had to be woken up with a loud blast of a ships horn from who knows where. It was so loud that I toppled right out of bed. I groaned from the ground and cursed. I swear if Leo decided to pull a prank on blowing the ships horn this early in the morning I'm going to kill him! As I got up from the ground, I heard another horn blast. I plugged my ears, trying so hard to block the horrific sound. You think hearing Leo's voice singing his favorite song over and over again was annoying, well this was worse. Well not entirely, but it was close. I decided to get ready as fast as I could and head up on deck. By the time I finished and reached the top deck, I saw everyone gathered and mostly dressed. It looked like everyone rushed to get on up here, because apparently I was the most descent looking one here. Thank Zeus that Aphrodite blessed me with good taste and how to get ready in a flash. Out of everyone here, Leo's clothing was the funniest. Apparently the boy accidently set himself on fire, which explains the tattered t-shirt. I stifled a laugh. I looked out at sea to find a cruise ship with a bunch of tourist waving at us. I tilted my head in confusion.
"I wonder what they see? You know with the mist and all." I said to the others. Everyone shrugged.
"Probably another cruise ship." Percy stated. "But your guess is better than mine." I nodded than yawned.
"I just wish they didn't have to be so loud." I complained. After I said that they blew their horn once again. Coach Hedge waved his bat in the air.
"I agree. Can I just shoot them down and get it done and over with?" Coach asked hopefully. We all shook our head.
"As tempting as that is. No." I replied. The Coach huffed and lowered his bat. "Plus their just normal mortals just trying to have fun." I sighed. I wish I could have fun at times and not worry about this war.
"So does anyone know where we're at?" Piper asked. She looked out at sea and gasped. I turned my gaze towards the sea as well, and smiled at the beauty laid in front of us.
"Welcome to the Rock of Gibraltar." The seven demigods gaped at the view in front of them.
"It's...It's beautiful." Annabeth said in awe. I nodded.
"Should we sail forward?" Piper asked. She looked back at Leo, who shrugged.
"Yea, I guess we could. People do it all the time, so I don't see why not." He said. Annabeth gazed out at the rocks. I recognized that face, I could see the gears moving in that brain of hers.
"This is the rock of Hercules isn't it?" She looked at me. I nodded. "To the Greeks the pillar marked for the end of the known world. The Romans said the pillars were in scribed with a Latin warning-"
"Non plus ultra," Percy said. Both Annabeth and I were stunned at his answer.
"Exactly. Nothing Further Beyond. Percy how did you know that?" Percy pointed.
"Because I'm looking at it." (Everything that's in italic is not my quote but Rick Riordans. All Rights To Him.) I looked where he was pointing to see an Island just magically appear out of no where. Leo coughed.
"Should I turn the ship around?" Leo asked nervously. No one answered him. Every one had their eyes on the person on the shore. I gulped. Oh no this isn't going to be a good, I thought. Someone in haled deeply.
"Is that..." Frank paused in awe.
"Yea. Hercules. The most powerful demigod of all time." Jason said. (NOT MY QUOTE, ALL RIGHTS TO RICK RIORDAN)
"So...should I turn around or what?" No one answered him. "Guys I need an answer." Leo said, unsure of what to do. I shook my head.
"No, don't. Stay on course. I have a feeling we have to talk to him." I said. I looked at my fellow demigods. They all nodded but looked uneasy. I sighed and looked out at the former demigod standing at the edge of the shore. This is going to be interesting, I thought.
