When we get to the mall and walk to the baby clothes store I get a call from Ronnie.
"Hey, we are here, ok we can meet you at the food court if you want, alright see you in a minute."
Raven and I headed to the food court and saw Ronnie sitting down at a table that sat four people. He stood up when he saw us, we walked over to him and Raven set down her purse.
" I am going to go get a slice of pizza you want one?"
" No, I'm fine I think I am going to get a sandwich." She nodded and then left the table. I looked up at Ronnie and he was already looking at me. I looked away because I started to blush, he somehow always had that effect on me, if I was mad, sad, frustrated or anything he would find a way to make me smile.
I hope that is one of the characteristics that our kids have, just being able to make someone smile when they don't think that they can. I turn back to face and he was still looking down at me with his beautiful smile.
"Do you want to go something to eat? I was thinking about going to the wing place right over there by the smoothies. I heard the have some pretty good food to be in the mall."
The food court in the mall was never very big, last year it only had fifty stores and the food court was full of empty booth and crappy food. People were complaining about how boring and bland the mall was, so people raised money, with time the mall has grown. It still has so growing to do but trust me when I say that the mall was so much better than when I would come with my friends two years ago.
I looked toward the wing place that Ronnie was talking about, then turned back around to him and nodded. While we were walking toward the register to place our order, Ronnie tried to hold my hand, but I looked away and put my hand on my belly. I didn't have a reason on why I didn't want to hold his hand, I just didn't want him to get the wrong idea about us. I know that we had a moment at the doctor's office but that was over the babies not us being a thing again. I was having emotions for him but as a mother looks to the father kind of way, not a love lusting kind of way.
Once we got up to the register and placed our order I noticed that a girl was staring at Ronnie from a table with her friends. Her and her friends were pointing and giggling in a flirtatious way. I knew the effect that Ronnie had on women. I remember him having that effect on me. I knew that they had not seen me because if they had seen me and saw that Ronnie was with me they would think we were in a relationship. I saw that the girl finally got the courage to get up and come talk to Ronnie, I didn't want to get in her way of trying to make a move, so I wanted to go sit down. I looked at Ronnie and thought to myself that I hope us not being together and being a father gets in the way of his love life. Ronnie is a great guy and any girl would be lucky to have him, I don't want him to feel like he can't be in a relationship because I am the mother of his children. I do know that he would want me to be happy and I want him to be happy, I wonder if he knows that he can be in a relationship even with a family.
I nudge Ronnie gently, and whisper very softly so the girl won't know that I am talking to him " There is a girl coming over this way to come talk to you, I want you to give her a chance and you will introduce me as your friend. Got it?"
He looks confused for a moment, then rubs the back of his neck and turns around slowly to see the girl that I am talking about. He smiles a little bit and turns back around, he nods his head to me in agreement. He grabs my arm and I turn to look at him and he says very softly, " are you sure you are ok with this? " I nod and say with a reassuring voice, " Definitely she is a cutie and I want you to be happy."
This takes him by surprise but before he can ask questions or explain that he was happy the girl was right behind him. She taps on his shoulder and Ronnie turns around. I try looking without seeming awkward and weird, all I can see is a big grin from ear to ear from that cute, innocent, young, flirty girl. Interesting enough Ronnie didn't introduce me at all. He handed me the money behind his back, very discreetly and then kept talking to the girl. I got the food and walked back over to our table.
