Sam's P.O.V
''Hey, you'' I hear Luke's calm voice from behind me, grabbing hold of my arm, lightly, as he catches up with me. I pull my hair to one side of face and greet him back as we continue into the school building.
''You ready for another year at this shithole?'' Luke laughs, looking up at the building before we step into the doors of the white, locker-lined corridor.
''Ready as I'll ever be'' I sigh, fixing my bag on my shoulders.
''Ahh, Sam. I haven't seen you in ages my good friend.'' Luke suddenly says, wrapping his arms around my shoulders and squeezing me until I yell out. ''Luke!'' I giggle, uncontrollably, as I try and squirm out of his grip. He chuckles lightly, finally letting me go and walking beside me again.
''What! I missed you! You were gone all summer.'' He starts, gesturing wildly with his hands. ''How was your grandma's?''
I give him a look at how crazy he's acting. ''It was fun I guess. Me and Tom went to the lake like everyday'' I explain. Tom is my 13 year old brother . Luke nods, waving at a few people passing us. ''Well I like you're hair.''
''Yeah, I grew it out and got rid of the blonde. It wasn't me''
He nods in understanding, tugging on a strand of my black hair and wrapping it round his finger.
''I like it better like this'' He smiles down at me, letting go of my hair and greeting some dude that yelled his name. Luke has always been really close with me. In a way he's like a gay best friend but he's not gay. I hadn't seen any of my friends all summer because I was away in Brighton, England, visiting my family. I had just got back about two days before school started.
''Did you guys get up to much?'' I ask, not taking my eyes off my locker as I tried to remember my combination. Luke leans against the locker beside me, crossing one leg over the other. I see him shrug his shoulders as he tries to remember anything in particular. ''Nah not much...'' He says, still thinking ''Well there was Rylie's sixteenth. Yeah, that was fun. We all slept at hers, movies and food and stuff''
''Sounds cool'' I reply, kind of sad that I couldn't be there.
I sigh loudly, pressing my forehead against my locker. ''What's up?'' Luke asks, semi-concerned, popping the 'P'.
''I hate being the youngest'' I groan, shutting my eyes in frustration. I hear Luke laugh at me, making me poke him hard in the chest. He groans aswell, pushing my hand away. I giggle, lifting my head of my locker and turning to face him again. He laughs a little too as I rub the spot I poked, treating him like a baby. I glance over Luke's shoulder and spot Calum talking to two guys by a classroom door. As he finished greeting them he turned towards me and Luke, catching my eye. I smile over to him as Luke turns around to face him too. I watch as a grin creeps onto his lips, making his eyes go small.
''Sam!'' He yells, quickly making his way over to us. ''Cal! What's up'' Luke greets him. ''Nothin really'' He replies, eyeing my hair briefly. I laugh when he pokes Luke in the stomach and Luke gets pissed. ''You two are the devil's spawn'' He yells, pointing at us with his two fingers.
Calum finally turns to me, smiling widely. ''Sam!'' He says, engulfing me in a huge hug. ''I've missed you like crazy!'' He murmurs into my hair. ''You too, Cal'' I respond as he pulls away.
''I like your hair. It suits you'' He says, tugging on the ends of it, just like Luke.
''Thanks'' I say, examining it in my fingers.
''So, we're just waiting on Mol now...'' Calum states, scanning the hallway. Me and Luke both nod and I finally give up on my locker combination when I feel someone stick their fingers into my sides, making me scream.
