Calum's P.O.V

I was sleeping over at Luke's house that night and we had just said bye to the girls. We were on our way home when Luke started talking.

''You like her don't you'' Luke states rather than asking. I feel my heart practically drop into my stomach as the words come out of his mouth. Luke knows me better than anyone I've ever known and he can see right through me. I keep my eyes on my feet as they scratch along the pavement below us. The evening air is cold against my bare arms and I regret not bringing a jacket. I shove my hands deeper into the pockets of my black skinny jeans, letting my black hair fall over my forehead. None of us say anything for a little while, the gentle breeze brushing against our faces.

''Yeah...'' I hear Luke murmur into the wind after what seems like 10 minutes, even though I didn't say anything. I suddenly feel the anger rising in my chest at his remark but I don't know why.

''Shut up! I don't...'' I snap at Luke, making him look at me. He lets out a single laugh, irritating me even more.
''You're not fooling anyone, Cal'' He chuckles, obviously not seeing how mad I am at him. I stop walking, glaring at the back of his head as he walks on. Once Luke realises I've stopped, he turns around to face me. His shoulders are hunched over because of the cold and his beanie is pulled firmly down over his eyes.
''Hey, Fuck you!'' I shout through the wind that is now howling loudly. The sky is dark, making our surroundings a glum shade of grey. Luke looks slightly shocked for a few seconds, throwing his hands up in the air in defense.

''Hey, hey... I'm not trying to offend you, Cal! Relax...'' He replies, raising his voice back at me and lowering his arms again. I sigh loudly, trying to calm myself down, as I make my way back over to Luke. We both carry on walking in a kind of awkward silence.

''... you can tell me, y'know'' Luke states, simply. Once again, I keep my eyes on my feet, watching the smoky stuff come out of my mouth. I shake my head in response. I don't really know what I meant by me shaking my head and I don't think Luke did either. I see him open his mouth to speak but I stop him before he can.

''Can we just forget about it...'' I say, sternly. Luke nods a little, pulling his beanie down even more and fixing his hair under it. I catch him murmur something that sounds like an 'alright' but I don't ask him to repeat it.

Sam's P.O.V

Me and Rylie were sitting on a wall outside the bowling place, waiting for Rylie's driver to come and pick us up. I watched as our legs swung back and forth in unison. Rylie looked amazing, like always. No wonder Luke liked her so much. Her blonde hair fell loosely down her back and around her face, a black beanie, that our friend Shane had bought her for one of her birthdays, planted firmly on the top of her head. I admired her outfit, a black band T-shirt that was sleeveless, so you could see her bra, tucked into black, highwaisted Levis shorts and tights with her Doc Martens.

Rylie snaps her fingers infront of my face, bringing me out of my thoughts. Her fake glasses slip down the bridge of her nose as she raises an eyebrow.
''So?'' Rylie asks, waiting for me to say something. I look to my left and right before looking back at her, confused.
''...What?'' I finally ask her. I frown as she she rolls her eyes at me, slapping her hand on my thigh.
''What's with you and Cal?!'' Rylie bursts out, waving her hands around like a mad person, before returning to her relaxed self. I shrug my shoulders, turning the sides of my mouth downwards.

''There is no... 'Me and Cal' '' I start explaining '' We're all friends in our group, remember?'' I hit her on the arm, trying to knock some sense into her.
''I saw you two today.'' Rylie says, taking off her glasses and folding them closed ''He looks at you different...''
''Oh! You mean how Luke looks at you?'' I snap back at her, trying to hold back my grin but not doing a very good job.

''Hey, that's different and you fucking know it!'' Rylie manages to get out between laughs ''but seriously Sam...''
I feel my face go warm and I look back down to our feet.
Rylie's jaw drops and she grabs my face with both hands.
''See?! You like him!'' She yells, a huge smile growing on her face. I roll my eyes and scoff at her, trying really hard to show my disgust. I pull her hands away from my face and hop off the wall.
''Ew, Rylie stop. I wouldn't go there. And anyway, if I wanted to, I would have a long time ago!'' I explain, placing my hand on my hip. Rylie narrows her eyes at me, pouting her bright red lips.

''So you guys haven't kissed or anything? Since you got back?'' She smirks, one corner of her mouth rising into a crooked smile. My mouth drops open. Think, think, think, Sam.

''He's one of my best friends. That wouldn't happen!'' I finally say, pinching the skin on my arm. I really didn't want to have to lie to any one of my friends.

''You sure he knows that?'' Rylie smirks down at me, grabbing one of my hands ''remember, I've known Calum for longer than anyone else in our friend group. I know how he acts when he likes a girl and that was it, honey''
I groan, obnoxiously, throwing my head back in distress. Rylie laughs as she jumps down from the wall.

''C'mon, stupid'' She giggles, dragging me towards the big black car that had just pulled up infront of us.
