Sam's P.O.V
I walked up the path towards the school's front doors, shoving my phone into my bag so none of the teachers take it off of me. I quickly wipe under my eyes, making sure none of my eyeliner is smeared. I glance around at the other students, looking for a familiar face but I don't see one. I made sure I kept my hair down that morning, taking off all my hair ties from my wrist and leaving them in my room. I jump a little at the sudden grasp around my wrist, whipping my head around to see a laughing Calum.
''You literally just whipped me with all your hair'' He manages to say between his high pitched laughs. I giggle, running my hand through my hair, trying to bring it out of my face. I feel his hand leave my wrist, quickly moving to his elbow on his other arm.
''So I have a proposition'' Calum states, raising an eyebrow. I narrow my eyes and cock my head to the side. I know that whatever it is he's going to say, it involves breaking the rules. With Calum, it always is. I gesture for him to continue. My body moves forward, against my will, as Calum leans into my ear.
''Skip school with me'' Calum whispers into my ear, his hair brushing off my temple. I instantly step back, giving him a 'are you fucking crazy?!' look. It wouldn't be the first time that I've skipped school with Calum but it's been a long time. Also, we usually plan these things the day before or something.
''W-Why didn't you ask me last night or something?!'' I whisper-shout, glancing around incase anyone hears. Calum's bottom lip juts out as he shrugs, bringing both his hands up.
''I just thought of it now when I saw you'' He whispers back at me ''Cmoooon Sammy! It'll be fun...''
I watch in amusement as Calum brings his hands up to his front, as if he's praying. I can't help but smile as he whines, moving his feet around like he does when he's excited.
''I'll get on my knees if you don't say something quick...'' Calum warns, start to lower himself onto his knees. Grabbing the front of his shirt, I pull him up again quickly glancing around to see if we're drawing any attention but we're not, thank god. Calum's face breaks into a smile, his eyes going small, and he grips my arms with both hands, jumping up and down slightly.
''Fine. I'll skip... but stop that!'' I say, grasping Calum's shoulder and holding him to the floor.

''Where are we even going?'' I finally ask after walking with Calum for about five minutes.
''My house'' Calum replies, simply, shoving his phone back in his pocket. My mind flashes back to what happened last time we were alone in one of our houses. I clear my throat, stopping for a second.
''Calum I-'' I begin, but am interrupted by the sound of Calum sighing, leaning his head back. I swallow, hoping he can't hear it, and start shuffling my feet around, waiting for him to say what he wants to say.
''Geez, is this what it's gonna be like from now on whenever I want to hang out alone with you?'' Calum asks, not really sounding pissed off but a bit annoyed. I was making this such a big deal and I feel like such an idiot now. Of course he just wanted to hang out like we always do. What made me even think that suddenly he would want to hook up with me every chance he got. It's no different than it was before Summer. In fact, it was probably me that came onto him first and I just didn't realise it. Calum must think I'm such an idiot for even thinking that we were going to kiss or do anything like 'that' again. I shake my head, looking down at the ground below his feet.
''Sam...'' Calum starts, slowly walking over to me ''I won't try anything with you. We're best friends...that would be weird.''
I raise my eyes to meet Calum's, smiling at his kind words. I mumble out a 'thanks' and we start walking, side by side, again. The sun is burning down on both our foreheads, making me hate the fact that we had to wear these stupid shirts to school.
