"I hate you."

N-no, c'mon you don't mean that? Annabe-"

"I HATE YOU!"

Jason watched from behind the apartment door. His combat suit was uncomfortably hot and so was the argument in front of him. Percy's hair was tousled from sttessfully running his hair through it. Annabeth's eyes were rimmed red and angry.

"Look we had to! I'm sorry, but he was a sp-"

A book was thrown.
"Don't say that! He was misunderstood, and you killed him!"

Do not interfere with us under any circumstances, Jason. She's my best friend and it has to be only me to tell her this.

Boy, Jason was really wishing to break that promise. He didn't like his comrad being shut down like this. Especially by his best friend for life.

But now Percy looked angry. Jason knew things were going to get bad pretty quickly now. His jaw was set and his lip curled up in an unconscious snarl.

"Sure, Luke was misunderstood and killed half my crew. Our crew. Me and Jason. Watched. Them. Die. But sure, Luke was misunderstood and totally wasn't helping them."

Annabeth's throat began to make whining noises, she was hyperventilating. Jason slid from behind the door.

Percy's hand shot out behind him, "no."

"C'mon Perc, she doesn't understand."

"Oh I understand. You killed an innocent man Percy. He was your friend!"

"Used to be! Annabeth just listen. I came to tell you one thing. One thing that should've been the first question on your mind. But you ask about the man who's been wanted for over six months for trading information with the enemy. For being in their front lines."

Annabeth steeled her eyes. "What was it, if it was much more important than Luke, what was it?" Her hands shook. Percy looked like he haf given up. He raised his hands in an "I don't know what to do anymore gesture." His eyes sparkled. Jason felt his chest ache for what was to come.

"Malcom, Lee, Katie, Jessa, Nyssa, Dakota, Gwen, T-Travis- squad 600 was killed. My squad and Jason's. We were the only two."

Jason felt his eyes sting. That wasn't even half of his friends that had died in this battle. But hearing his squad's name hurt like no other. It was raw, like the pain he felt from the knife wound. It ached just thinking about it, making his eyes sting worse than ever and his breath catch on supressed cries and gasps of pain.

Annabeth's mouth opened and closed like a fish. "All of them?" She paled. "My brother?"

Percy didn't look her in the eye. "Silena, Lou Ellen, Ethan, Jason Fair, Lacy, Will, Connor." He whispered Connor's name. His death had been brutal. Crying against his brother's body until the last bombshell set off, decimating the squad in front of him and sending debris into his face and chest. He never let go of his older brother.

Annabeth went to speak but Percy stopped her again and spouted off other dead comrades. He finally broke on Beckendorf.

His eyes spilled over with silent tears and his hands held rigid behind his back.

"I was only going to tell you about your brother, but since you obviously had the hots for Luke, that's all you cared about. You didn't ask about Malcom, Silena, the Stolls, hell, you didn't ask about us. Just screaming about saving someone who deserved every last gunshot."
