Do it, do it...Now! No.... and..Now! Wait...

Percy stared at his friend, his boyfrie- his best GUY friend- Jason from the low light of the dawn coming through the frosty glass. Each second he sat next to Jason felt like an eternity. He was sure Jason felt the same, but for not the same reason as he was.  He wiped his hands compulsively on his jeans and slowly slowly slowly inched himself closer and closer to Jason until their hips were almost touching. If Jason noticed, he made no remark of it. Percy watched with probably what looked like a stalker-ish face to bystanders when he was really just soaking in the fact that he was failing miserably at his goal. Every longing look made him feel a little more constricted and he leaned and leaned and leaned closer and closer and CLOSER until...

Jason suddenly looked to Percy. Percy jumped when he saw how close their faces were.

Maybe if he leaned in noowww..

"I'm really excited, Percy." Jason piped up. His chipper voice sounded strange in the groggy atmosphere of the airport.

His shoulders slumped. "Oh?"

"Yeah, I cant believe dad is letting me go to this camp. For a whole month."

"Yeah, gee. Great." Percy tried not to sound too down about the whole situation; but his tone didn't really agree with that.

Jason stopped his excited bouncing in his seat. "You feel okay? You're being quiet and that's really weird for you."

Percy placed a convincing smile back on his face. "I'm fine, really. It's just going to be hard not seeing you for a month. " REALLY HARD PLEASE DON'T GO

Jason tilted his head. "Yeah, I'm going to miss you." His heart beat a little faster, a little harder. His cheeks reddened. "Yeah, me too."

Jason looked back to the airplanes landing on the runways outside the frosty window at the airport in New York.  One hour. One hour and he was boarding and leaving Percy behind and taking his heart with him.

Okay, maybe Percy was being a little dramatic. But really, this was his best friend. His second partner in crime other than Annabeth. But she was hardly doing as many schemes with him as she had Piper now. Thinking of her and Piper only brought back the conversation they had only a few weeks ago. He pouted at the thoughts.

How did she even manage to kiss Piper? So smooth, so suave. Sitting on a bench at Piper's dad's lake and throwing her arms around her. Laughing hysterically and smiling into the kiss. How did she do it?

I'm going to miss his birthday.

What if he meets someone there and doesn't want to come back?

What if its not the same when he comes back?

"Just do it, Percy. It isn't that hard. Be brave," Annabeth had told him with Piper giggling in the background.

"Hooooowwwww? And Piper, shut up," he had moaned.

"I can't- this-this is too cute coming from you, oh my god." She was wheezing on the floor, nearly banging her fists in hysterics.

"Honestly Percy, I did it. You can do it." Annabeth had smiled a smug smile that made Percy remember when they almost had. When they were twelve. That had only been a mere crush, a blip in their friendship. Thankfully -sometimes he wondered if he was thankful actually- it had brought them closer and Annabeth had more opportunities to  tease him.
