Color blind au
"Percy honestly calm down, there's other jobs and we have like 5 years. Jesus chill."
Percy flapped his arms indignantly. "Are you kidding me? I've wanted to be an officer since I was 11 and now I just figured out I can't! Because I can't see some stupid colors?"
He muttered something that vaguly sounded offensive to police officers. Jason bit back a snort."Well, I mean, it is kind of important. Ya gotta know what color the suspects shirts are, where they were, color of the sign..." Percy waved him off.
"Color this, color that." He sat down in his empty desk. The school was empty except for the students attending the afternoon camp and tutoring sessions. All that could be heard around the halls was Percy hitting his head on the desk and Jason repressing his laughter.
Jason sighed when he looked at Percy's face. The fifteen year old looked sincerly upset about not being able to go into his dream job. Jason felt a surge of unfairness. Percy deserved that job. He wouldve been the best. But now the high speed chase of his police car dreams came to an ultimate stop, flip, and burn.
Percy took a quick breath. "Honestly why do I even need to see the color blue? I know the color od the traffic lights and that's pretty important and I can see stop signs what's the big deal?"
"One color in that job is a big deal " Jason hated to break it to him.
Percy nodded mutely. Suddenly his head popped up with an obvious idea. His eyes almost looked like there was a light bulb behind them with how bright they were.
"We could be partners! You can see everything! We can work together." His hand darted out and grabbed Jason's, who's hand was resting on the desk. He looked at him pleadingly.
To say the Jason's heart only broke a little was an understatement.
"I-I wish I could. But you know I want to join the air force. I wish."
Percy cut him off with a large groan. "I'm never going to be a police man. Man, I can't even teach a pre school class they'll get all their colors screwed up."
"Honestly now you're being ridiculous. You don't even like little kids."
"Iiiiii never said that. I only said I didn't like the kids that wouldn't stop singing Let it Go."
Ha furrowed his eyebrows. "I hate that movie. You know what color the majority of it is? Blue. Freaking blue."
Jason was a bit glad Percy was off the police man rant, yet now HE had to go through the daily color blind rant.
He put his hand on Percy's shoulder. Percy looked up at him. "I can't see the color of your eyes."
Jason smiled. "Sky blue."
Percy gave him a crooked smile in response. "My favorite color. Because one) can't hate a color youvw never seen-" Jason joined in for the last sentence. They barely held back their laughter. "Two because it's J-man's color."
Jason snorted. "How old is that stupid joke?"
"I don't know, about a year old? We were being stupid and you asked me my favorite color and I said blue just to get on your nerves. You didn't know so you asked what type and by wild guess I got your eyes right. Escaltwd ever since. God, we're stupid."
Jason nodded. "I remember that day."
Percy didn't respond. Jason felt like he was staring to instensly at him. His green eyes were unwavering from his. In all honesty, it was starting to creep him out.
"Sky blue," he murmured. "I hope one day I get to see it. And I won't look until I'm looking at you."
Jason swallowed. "Sounds like a plan."
The staring was interrupted by a sharp knock on the door.
"Yo, Prissy and Dork, stop flirting and help me with our project." The words were tossed to them by a girl with long hair, yellow feathers streamimg behind. Jason swore she was laughing. And Percy didn't have to be color blind to see the smirk on her face.
