I don't know how, but I began remembering more and more things. Maybe it was because I fell on the floor earlier.
As I laid wrapped inside Carters arms, I couldn't help thinking about how bitchy I had been to Nightmare.
He was trying to do what's best, he just wasn't doing what was right.
Was he looking for me? Him and Dawn? They could be at the front gates right now.
Where were we going to go once we escaped? If we escaped..
I didn't really know what came next. Was I suppose to escape? If I did, we had literally nowhere to go. I couldn't look after tens of people, damn, I couldn't even look after myself.
But, I couldn't let Carter down, nor Dawn or Nightmare.
"You Awake?"
He yawned, unraveling himself from around me.
"Yeah. I Can't Sleep Much"
I tried to giggle but all that came out was a heavy sigh.
"What's Next?"
He asked, sitting up beside me, almost as if he could read my thoughts.
"I .. I Don't Know Carter"
I admitted.
He didn't shout or moan at me for not having a plan like I imagined he would.
He just shook his head and patted my back.
I shuffled away from him slightly, making his hand fall off of me. I didn't want to be touched or spoken to right now, but it was Carter.
"We Can't Stay Here"
He said and I agreed. This whole place have me bad vibes.
What if we can't escape?
Tears started to roll down my face.
"Hey. It's Okay Riles"
"The Whole Worlds A Mess. Nothing's Going To Be Okay"
I blubbered, holding my face in my shaking hands.
"Once My Mum Ordered A Necklace. She Told Me It Was Diamond Incrusted. It Was Absolutely Beautiful"
I looked up at him. He was in deep thought as he continued his story.
"When The Package Came, It Has Been Mashed Up In The Post. The Box Was Torn And Soaked"
He looked down at me.
"The Necklace Was Still Gorgeous Though. Only The Box Was Ruined"
Carter slid his hand into mine and our fingers interlocked.
"You're The Necklace Riles. Everything Around You Is Rubbish But You're Still Shining And Strong As Ever"
I cried even more. I wasn't the diamond necklace at this moment, I was more like the wrecked box.
"What If I Can't Be Strong?"
He bit down his lip, staring at my watery eyes.
"Focus On The Good Things"
"Good Things Don't Last Forever"
I instantly replied. I hastily took my hand away from his and curled into a little ball away from him.
"Neither Do Bad Things, Riles"
