Waking Up

"She's Been Out For 2 Days"
It was a mans voice.
"Well That's What Happens When You're In A Coma Carl"
"If She Doesn't Wake Up Soon, Jessica Will Kill Us"
Jessica's going to kill me, I thought. I promised no more trouble. She could of killed me when I hurt Hayden. But she didn't. She didn't even hurt me.
"It's Not Our Fault. We Weren't Shooting Up The Place. It's Toms Fault"
Tom must of been the person who had killed Hayden.
"What If She Doesn't Wake Up"
"Carl Shut Up"
The second man sounded angry, but worried too.
"How's She Doing?"
I recognised that stern and collective voice, it was Jessica.
"She's Still Out Cold"
"You Better Pray She Wakes Up By Noon"
Noon, I thought. I wanted to open my eyes and yell that I'm okay. I couldn't bare to think of what's going to happen to those two men.
"Please Wake Up"
One of them whispered to me.
Come on Riley, man-up. You have to survive, you're not weak by any means. Do it for Carter.
My eyelids fluttered open.
"I'm Up!"
I called. I had never been happier to be awake in my whole life.
As i sat up I realised that I was alone and it was noon.
"No.."
My words trailed off. Those men, the ones I had heard. Were they dead?
I swung my heavy legs off of the bed and shakily stood up.
"You Got This"
I whispered.
One step after the other, I made my way out of the room.
It had hit me that I knew nothing about where I was or how to navigate around the area.
"Hello?"
I shouted. Hoping Jessica would shout back and tell me the men were still alive.
She didn't.
As I stepped onto the cold, hard floor my stomach growled.
I hadn't eaten in ages.
I hoped that the food here was as good as the food back at CloverFord.
Thinking about CloverFord made my stomach growl louder.
I patted it carefully.
"Let's Find Some Food"
I announced.
All the halls were identical. It was confusing and exhausting.
After paddling around for what seemed like hours I reached a door with a sign above it.
"Food Hall"
The words made my insides hurt more. I needed food quickly or else I might collapse.
I pushed open the large wooden door.
Inside was rows and rows of neatly laid tables. On the back wall was a long food court filled with freshly cooked food.
"Hello?"
I spun around.
A tall, dark haired man was standing just a few feet away from me.
"Sorry.. I Was Hungry"
"You're Riley?"
I smiled.
"You've Heard Of Me?"
He let his lips turn into a grin.
"Come In. I'll Get You Some Food To Eat"
The mans name was Phillip. He sat opposite me and watched as I munched on my food. It wasn't nearly as nice as the food I had before, but it was better than nothing.
Phillip told me that everyone was buzzing about what I had done. How I had broken Hayden's jaw.
"So Is He Dead?"
"Hayden? No Don't Think So"
I pushed away my food.
"But.. Tom.. He Shot Him"
My words came out as cries. Hayden was still alive.
"Tom? He Didn't Shoot Hayden. He Shot A Girl"
My stomach dropped.
I opened my mouth and said words I hoped I didn't need to hear the answer for.
"What Girl?"
Phillip took my plate and walked over to the sink.
"I Don't Know Her Name. But Apparently She Was A Friend Of Yours, Sorry Dear"
My hands curled into fists and latched onto my skirt.
"Excuse Me"
I said as normally as I could.
Rushing out of the room I ran to try and find Jessica.
If Dawn was dead, Hayden would pay. As well as Tom.
I worked my way around the narrow halls until I found Jessica's office.
She was inside with two men. I didn't even stutter. I burst through the doors.
"Jessica"
I panted. The men turned to face me. They weren't guards and I didn't know them by face.
"Riley?"
Jessica stood up from her desk. "What's Wrong?"
"Where's.. Dawn.."
I gasped heavily trying to catch my breath.
The whole room began spinning. I felt myself drifting in to unconsciousness.
"Dawns At The Nurses Office Riley"
I slapped myself in the face to wake up my body.
Not now.
Jessica leapt back in surprise and practically dropped me to the ground.
"I Need To See Dawn"
I gripped the side of the desk. Pulling my body upwards, I found myself in a wheel chair.
"Riles?"
"Dawn!" I shouted as I saw Dawn sitting beside a girl.
She jumped up and hugged me.
"Dawn I Thought That They Had Shot You!"
"I'm Okay Riles.."
Her smile grew into a frown.
"They Shot Emma"
I feel bad for thinking this but, I didn't mind that it was Emma. Sure she didn't deserve it, sure it should of been Hayden. But it wasn't Dawn, and I was at peace with that.
"She's Not Going To Make It"
Dawn looked upset.
"It's Not Your Fault"
"No It's Not. It's Yours"
She pushed me out of the way and ran out into the hall.
"Dawn?"
I called after her. I wasn't going to take the blame for Tom shooting Emma.
I chased into the hall to find Dawn sobbing.
She was in the corner with her knees to her chest.
"Dawn I Didn't Do This"
"But You Did. You Fought Hayden. You Went To Jessica. You Got Emma Shot"
"Don't Start Accusing People Of Things Dawn, Not When You've Done Worse"
My tone was threatening.
"What Do You Mean?"
"Did I Ever Accuse You Of Killing Nightmare Dawn? Huh?"
Flashing memories of him pass through my mind.
"You Don't Even Know What Happened!"
"And You Don't Know What Happened With Hayden!"
I snapped back at her. I had made a good point. Dawn hadn't even heard the conversation that happened before the fight.
"I'm Sorry Riley.."
"Dawn. Hayden Stabbed Me When I Was Sleeping"
She glared up at me. She was terrified.
"He..He Did That?"
Her voice shook at every word.
"He Did"
"Why?"
"Because I Didn't Go On A Date With Him"
She almost laughed.
I scowled at her and she wiped her tears. Dawn was now looking straight up at me.
"What A Little Imbecile"
She pushed herself off of the ground and beside me. Her face was still covered in red, blotchy tear stains.
"Revenge?" She asked.
"Indeed" I smirked.
Dawn was back.
