(Before I begin, please do not expect a sweet lovey-dovey fanfic.  I re-read my previous works and realized I made the vampires look a tad bit too easy. Although Yu may have power struggles sooner or later, vampires will still be overpowering him easily. Thanks for reading chapter one, and let's begin!)

Soft leaves crunched under the dominant feet of Lest Karr, he slowly made his way to the immobile Krul, who was sat there in silence, her eyes shut tight. He smirked at the sight of her being asleep in a cramped jail cell, which rested right outside the Sanguinem testing facilities. Her position was somewhat unorthodox, as she could be freed simply, but the Four Horsemen of John would eat anyone around. Even the most skilled of fighters.

Meanwhile, Krul battled the urge to bite her tongue off, clearly thirsty for her share of blood.

"It's feeding time."
His voice pierced through her ears.

"Great. What am I having tonight, your head?"
A sly smirk mapped itself onto her face, before she opened her eyes and began looking at the younger yet more dominant vampire.

"Classic. Lacus, please, her cup."
He gestured for the hooded vampire on his side to lower a wide but short glass into her cell.

Krul slowly sipped on the blood, not showing her weakness, she wasn't broken, and she sure as hell wouldn't be broken anytime soon. She wouldn't be broken, until and unless Mikaela was no more. She didn't know herself why she felt such love and affection to this human, but she knew she did. And that was enough for her.

Yu, on the other hand, was sat silently, listening to a book Shinoa was reading to him.

"Well, let's begin. 101 ways to show affection to your significant other."
Shinoa smirked and winked at Yu.
"Alrighty. 1; Shower them in compliments."
She lowered the book to get a look at Yu, who was unamused.

"What are you playing at, human?"
Mika spat out, appearing from practically nowhere.

"Now now, Mikaela-kun, please you can read it later with Micchan."
She shoo'ed away the blonde vampire and looked back at Yu.

"Why are we doing this again?"
Yu asked, finally lifting his idle feet to remove the gray socks that covered them.

"We're doing this because we all know how much you love me and are head over heels for me."
Shinoa shut the book and leaned towards him, snuggling her nose against his.

"Alright, alright! I get it, just don't get uncomfortably close."
Yu sighed, clearly having had enough of her shenanigans.

"Cherry boy."
Shinoa pecked his cheek, to which he flinched lightly.

To Yu, she smelt like flowers and chocolates, lavenders and rose water, and sweet sweet vanilla. He flushed away and smiled softly.
"Maybe we both needed that."

"Aha?"
Shinoa quickly glanced at his words, and smiled, before winking seductively. Though, deep down inside, Shinoa was hoping to explain her love for the troublemaker, before all was lost. She was an emotional rollercoaster. Not many people understood her, Mitsuba didn't, Yoichi and Kimizuki had no clue, Mikaela hated her guts, but Yu had an edge over all of them. It was as if the two met earlier in life. Almost as if they were playmates before the world was set to die. Before the beautiful green was turned into a gruesome red.
Before they took over.
