(I actually didn't update regularly, I'm the best, right? Sorry! I got swallowed by Re:Zero, and I kind of died when I noticed how awesome Rem and Subaru looked together ;-; New OTP? Well, OnS Season 3 will tell. On with the awful chapter! Also, possible SubaRem fan fiction? Who knows...)

There is one thing that will satisfy me, Guren.
What?
The head of Kureto Hiragi.
You've lost your mind—
His head.
Tch.

"Hey, could somebody remind me, how long it's been since we've got actual food?" Kimizuki piped up from the back of the group."Hey, could somebody remind me how long it's been since Kimizuki-kun kept his mouth shut?" Mitsuba snorted.
Shinoa rolled her eyes, the nuisance would always exist in this group, everyone was a part of it. Even herself.
Although most of the group were on edge, Yu was quite calm, his black hair flowing elegantly with the wind, his eyelids covering his sacred eyes, his face relaxed, but with a soft smile resting on it. Shinoa looked up at him, and was instantly glued to his hair. Each strand was combed to perfection; even though they were done so by hand.
Yu raised an eyebrow, and mumbled, "Is there something on my face?"
Your everlasting handsomeness— Focus Shinoa.
"Other than the lewd expressions, no, nothing at all." Shinoa triumphantly smirked.
And she did rightfully so; as she noticed the physical twitch of Yuichiro's eyebrow.
The rest of the walk was fairly normal, with the occasional chitter chatter from Yoichi and arguments between Kimizuki and Mika.
"How far is Sanguinem, exactly?" Mitsuba asked, clearly unfamiliar with her current location.
"From here? About half a day, we could power through, and risk dying by vampires or the Four Horsemen of John, but I'm pretty sure we're going to take it slow." Shinoa looked up to Yu for a reassuring smile, but he was unaware of her needs, as he looked straight ahead, his face ominously plain-looking.
"So how long if we take it slow?" Yoichi murmured respectfully.
"About a day or two, depends on our luck." Shinoa replied swiftly. "Though, our matches are out, and we have little to no food, and I'm not a fan of eating bunnies as a last resort."
"I can arrange a fire." Yu snapped to Shinoa, a makeshift smile on his face.
"Right, I forgot, you're a superhuman... But how exactly will your powers make us a f—"
"Not my powers. My immaturity. I used to burn things at the orphanage to pass time, and with my sisters help, I learnt how to light a fire with a stick and a few strands of hay. Or leaves. Leaves'll do." Yu smiled sweetly at Shinoa, his emerald orbs shining along with the late noon sunshine.
"A-Alright." Shinoa lowered her head in defeat.
"Oh, and bunnies may be a better option than maggots and crickets."
Shinoa gagged.
"Alright, bunnies it is."
Hmph. Silly nobles.

What would the world come to if vampires existed?
Suddenly, the answer is so clear, father.
Guren found himself reflecting on his cherished memories with his father, who had died to the epidemic when the world plunged into chaos and catastrophe. He always wondered what his wiser, less arrogant father would've done in times like these; whether or not he'd tease Guren about Mahiru's assets or if he'd prank Guren with positive pregnancy tests. Maybe his death was better for the advancement of the human race. Maybe it was. Maybe.
Being a boy without a mother is sad, but being a man without a father; indescribable.
Thank you father, for you have made me the naïve, yet wise man I am today. Even if most of your lessons were in your sleep.
And with that, the thought was pushed back into the deep, dark depths of Guren's crumbled frame of mind.
____
Fathers, the worst of the worst. Forcing wives to follow their rules; maybe that is why, I was neglected by my mother. Or maybe it was my power. The power that nobody has yet seen, not me, not the Demon Army, not anyone. And if I must ask, why was this power given to me?
Yuichiro Amane, looked at his shaky hands, the color white behind his hands, and behind his back, a wall. A white wall.
This power was given to you, because you asked for it.
The voice tore his mind apart, he wanted to scream, but his mouth remained shut, and his vocal cords stayed still, not the slightest vibration evident.
And how may you activate it, you ask? Simple, rid yourself of that purple woman. She is the binding on the Devil's Coffin. She was meant to be weaponized; just like her sister. Wake up Amane. Wa—
"Yu-san? Please wake up." Shinoa said, an irritated look plastered on her petite face.
"W-What?" Yu looked around, his vision blurry. "Oh, Shinoa, I'm sorry."
"You better be! You're not going to skip our shift, besides, we get the shortest one, so let's work our hardest!" Shinoa punched his chest.
Yu coughed.
"Or not..."
The night flew by fast, shifts changed, fire's were re-ignited, and so were fights. Yuichiro struggled to find that same voice that urged him to commit the greatest taboo. To open the Devil's Coffin.
|| u.u || Yes I know that Kimizuki calls his thing the Devils coffin, but I couldn't get anything else off the top of my head. Also, I felt like this chapter was necessary in terms of magnifying what more power Yu can unlock. And on that note, let me know what you thought! Also, Let me know if I should possibly start a Subaru/Rem fanfic. Maybe a one-shot? Who knows, who knows. Thanks for reading, and for waiting!
