Mackenzie's POV
It started to rain after a while, and I decided to walk to Destiny's house. I could still feel tears running down my face, but I ignore them.
I take my phone out of my pocket to find that it's dead. "That's just great." I mutter under my breath.
After a while of walking through mud puddles, and almost tripping and falling in them I finally got to Destiny's house. I walked up to her doorstep and knocked on the wooden door.
I heard footsteps on the opposite side of the door getting louder. The door opens widely to Destiny's mom standing there with a worried expression.
"Oh my gosh Mackenzie! It's pouring outside, come in, come in." She jesters for me to come in quickly.
"I don't want to get your floor wet." I said very timidity. I don't know why though, I knew Destiny's mom really well.
"Oh who cares about the floors, you're sopping wet. Stay here I'll get you a towel." She leaves me standing in the living room, dripping wet. She quickly comes down the stairs and raps the towel around me.
I sat down on the couch, and I looked down nervously at the ground. I quickly remember why I'm here, and start to wonder where Destiny is.
"Where's Destiny?" I ask her mom confused.
"Oh she had karate today." Of course she did, the one time I really need her she is at karate. "Is there something you needed her for?" Her mom looks at me, her eyebrows furrowed.
"Oh I just came here to work on a project that we had to do together. She didn't tell me that she had karate." I lied, I'm a bad person. I just lied straight to her face, but I don't want her to know about anything.
She looked at me not knowing what to think. But then her face turned soft, she seemed to buy it.
"Oh okay, well do you want me to drive you home? You can't walk in the rain, you will get sick."
"Yeah that's fine, thank you." I said

As she pulled into the driveway, she gave me smile and motioned for me to get out of the car. But the problem was, I was scared to. I was scared to open the door and see mom and dad fighting again. But I also had a little, just a little bit of hope that they were in there talking and laughing like they used to.
I finally got out of the car and slowly walked to my front door. I turn around and wave at Destiny's mom, when I turn back around I am faced with my fear. I exhale out a big breath to try to calm myself down.
Come on Mackenzie you can do this. Everything is going to be fine.
But I had come to realize that everything isn't going to be fine. I hear screaming coming from the other side of the door. I turn the door handle slowly, and walk in.
My parents stop screaming at each other and look at me. I haven't seen my mom and dad yell at each other in awhile, it brings back bad memories that I'd like to forget.
My mom comes up to me and puts her hand on my shoulder. "Honey can we talk?" She asked in a gentle tone.
"What is there to talk about?!" I say with a hint of anger in my voice.
"We just need to talk, as a family." She said calmly, so I would calm down.
"Okay whatever." I say, I know that we will have to talk at some point. I walk over to the table where my dad was already sitting. I sit down next to him, and look at my feet.
"I have been talking with your mother, and I feel that we should talk to you about it to see what you think." He nods at mom and then continues. "So the thing that I wanted to talk to you about is that I got a job here. I got fired from my last job, and since I wanted to catch up with you I ended up getting a job here. I found a little apartment that I will be staying at right down the street from here, so now we can hangout and do stuff together. We could go to the park and talk, or go to the movies, or even-"
"So you think that I'm just going to forget about what happened, and move on and pretend that everything is okay, well it's not! You left me and mom, how dare you come here and try to talk to me about "hanging out"! That's a lot of bullshit! How do I know your telling the truth or not? You could just get up and leave again!" I shouted at him, tears streaming down my face.
I ran to the door and slammed it shut behind me. Why does this always happen to me? Ugh. I didn't even want to be near him, I just wanted to be somewhere else. Anywhere else than here would be fine.
My phone was dead so I couldn't text anyone to come and get me. I was alone. Alone. I was always alone, even though I had friends and family, I still felt alone. That's all I could ever feel nowadays. You get used to it when you're an only child. Before their divorce, my parents didn't even notice me half the time. They either had to work all the time, or were fighting about what to have for dinner.
I had no friends up until 8th grade when Destiny moved here. That was probably one of the best days of my life, she was the only one that stood by me.
But right now I feel totally alone. Every time I need someone they're always busy. Too busy for me anyway, I am unimportant. In school I try and talk to everybody, but when I try to talk to them they either ignore me or pretend like I don't even exist. It's like I'm...what's the word? Invisible.
