Mackenzie's POV
*two weeks later*
It is the middle of March and my birthday is in a couple of weeks. I am really excited for my eighteenth birthday because that means that I am finally "an adult".
Also since my birthday is coming up, I have decided that I want to get a job. I realized that I can't live off of Destiny's mom, and dad forever. I want move out soon because I don't want to be a bother to Destiny's family.
If you have been wondering, things have been going great between Brandon and I. I don't think I've ever been this happy in a long time. Well since my parents got divorced it has always been hard to be happy. Your parents getting a divorce wasn't something you should celebrate about. Especially since the whole town knows about it, that just makes it even worse.
Surprisingly I haven't got pushed around by Hope lately, just some nasty glares from across the room. Whenever I'm with Brandon she'll always be staring at me, probably plotting something evil, that's just the way she is.
Destiny insisted on me staying at her house because of my mother. But I really didn't care at this point. I always kind of knew that someday my mother would snap, and finally lay a hand on me. Since my dad left I knew there was just something off about her. I guess she was just depressed, I would be too if my husband decided to get a divorce and leave me and our child.
My dad finally moved into an apartment right down the street. He has called me numerous times, but I never answer. I don't think that my relationship with my dad will be the same as it was before. Some people believe in second chances, but sometimes you have to think is it really worth the fight? Is it worth all the stress, and tears? I don't know anymore.
I finally snap out of my thoughts when I realize that my math teacher is talking to me. "Mackenzie, please pay attention this will be on your final assessment." Everybody in the room turns and looks at me. I feel my face heat up in embarrassment, as I try and hide my face from anyone seeing.
As everyone turns their attention towards the front of the room, I feel something hit my shoulder. I look down at the floor and see it's a piece of paper, with writing on it. I pick it up, and turn around to see Brandon smirking at me. A small smile appears on my face when I see him smiling. I quickly turn around and look at the small piece of paper, silently praying that I don't get in trouble again.
Meet me at the warehouse tonight at 7:00 :)
Brandon and I have been going there to talk, and to see Hooter, a lot in the past couple of weeks. We have just been getting to know each other, and ask each other stupid questions. But in my heart they weren't stupid questions, they were the little things that made us who we are.
I turned around and mouthed an "ok" to him, and he just nodded and smiled at me. His smile could be seen from a mile away. It was just so bright, and I admired that about him. His smile was a close second to his eyes that I loved so much.
The bell for lunch rang, and everybody ran out of the classroom. It was pizza day what do you expect? I don't really like the pizza here, it's really old and disgusting. Who can find that appetizing? Wait the whole school can, whatever.
I walk out of the classroom, and to my locker, where Brandon is already standing there waiting for me. I quickly smile at him before I open my locker, and get my things out. I shut my locker immediately after I got my things out, and I walked with Brandon to lunch.
As we got there everybody was staring in my direction, and whispering probably about me if I had to guess. Brandon and I looked at each other, as we walked in. I just shrugged, it wasn't the first time that the whole school has talked about me before. I think I can handle it.
