Chapter 13

Mackenzie's POV

It is now Wednesday, the day before I have to let my dad know if I want to see him or not. I miss him and everything, but I don't like what he did to me.

I am now sitting in homeroom waiting for the bell to ring to go to first period. I get so caught up in my thoughts that didn't even notice that the bell rang.

Destiny was in my first period class and I was so relieved she was because I haven't talked to her in a while.

When I saw her walk in I motioned for her to come over.

"Hey" I said excitedly.

"Hi" she said a little annoyed.

"What's wrong?" I asked, with a worried look on my face.

"Well it's just that you haven't talked to me in what feels like forever and I am just kind of annoyed I guess. Do you not have time for me anymore?" She asked with tears in her eyes.

"I'm sorry it's just that I have had a lot to think about and I just wanted to be alone. I hope you can understand."

"Yeah I understand, but if you ever need me just talk to me okay? I will always be here for you." She said, looking down and fiddling with her hands.

"Aw you are the best." I said while hugging her.

The day went by like usual. (When I say usual I mean boring.) As I got to lunch I sit down in my regular seat, and begin to eat. As I am eating I feel two hands cover my eyes.

"Guess who?"

"Umm mom?" I laugh at my not-so-funny-joke, and the mysterious person takes their hands away.

"Nope it's Brandon. You're bad at this game." He laughs and sits down next to me. He looks at me and smiles with his cute dimples showing.

"Hey I got something for you." He says pulling his hand out from behind his back.

I looked down at what he got me, and it was a necklace that said Partners in Crime on it.

"There's one half for me, and the other half for you." He said searching my face for any doubt.

"Thank you so much, I love it." I said turning around so he can put it on me.

"So what are you lovebirds doing?" Destiny walks up beside us with her lunch in her hand, smiling at us.

"Brandon just gave me this cute necklace." I said glaring at her with the we will talk later look in my eyes.

I get off the bus and walk up to the front door. Once I open the door I find my dad sitting at the dining room table. I freeze, and my bag drops onto the floor.

My dad heard the heavy bag fall on the ground, and turned around to look. When he saw me his face lit up, and he started getting up and walking towards me.

"Hi sweetie, I missed you so much." He said while squishing me with his tight hug. I just stand there, looking straight ahead. I didn't know what to do, I thought I had more time to think.

Well I guess this is what I get for waiting too long, I didn't even hug him back. I was stunned that he was sitting in our dining room just like when I was little.

But the only difference was that my mom and me were there with him, laughing and being happy.

"Well you didn't seem to miss me when you left me and mom, and now you want me to forgive you after the ten years of pain you put me through! You promised me that you would keep in touch, but I didn't get any texts or calls from you!" I looked at him with pure anger.

I didn't even want to hear what he had to say, so I ran out of the house. He tried to grab my arm but I pulled out of his grasp. I ran as far as my legs could take me.

I ran to a little park and sat on the swings, trying to process what had just happened. Then before I knew it tears started streaming down my cheeks, and onto the ground.
