Okay so this is going to be a two part chapter and it's very long and will tell you a lot about Sydney.
Enjoy!
Hunter's POV
I just had to do it, her lips looked so soft, that's why I dared her. When I saw her leaving the room, I couldn't lose my chance. I'm not sure how I feel about the kiss, it was nice-incredible even- but I don't date girls. I brush the feeling aside and make my way into the kitchen.
"Um mom this is Sydney, Sydney this is my mom," I introduce them awkwardly.
"Oh please, call me Maryanne," she tells Sydney with a smile. I scratch the back of my neck awkwardly.
"It's nice to meet you, ma'am. You have a very beautiful home," Sydney tells my mom with a small smile.
How cute...
Nope, I won't let my thoughts take over me again.
"Hunter, you never told me you had such a pretty girlfriend," my mom says.
We both stand there wide eyed. "He/she is not my boyfriend/girlfriend!" We both exclaim at the same time.
My mom chuckles, "I have a feeling you will be soon..."
For the first time ever I see Sydney... Blush??? That's new. As my mom goes back to the stove I whisper to Sydney, "Aw, gorgeous, you look so cute when you blush."
She glares at me before she walks over to my mom. "What are you making?"
"Chicken noodle soup, it's Hunter's favorite," she replies.
I grab Sydney's hand and walk her to the table. My mom brings us the soup and we dig in.
Sydney's POV
The soup was absolutely incredible, it didn't taste like the boring old packets of chicken noodle soup, it was actually good.
"This soup is amazing," I tell Maryanne while taking another sip of the delicious broth.
"I'm glad you like it, I don't like using pre made stuff, I make all my food homemade," she tells me with a warm smile.
Once we finish I take our bowls to the sink and prepare to wash them. "Stop it right now," Hunter tells me turning the tap off. I look at him confused before he tells me, "You're not washing the dishes, you're a guest. Go up to my room and play some video games and I'll be up in a second."
I'm about to protest when his mother tells me, "Sweetie, he's right, you two go and play I'll wash the dishes. I'll bring you guys brownies once they're finished baking." It was at that moment when the delicious aurora of chocolate brownies filled the room. I nod my head and thank her before going back upstairs.
"Your mother is really nice," I tell Hunter once we're in his room.
"Yeah, she's the best," he says with a small smile on his face. He looks at me and we hold each other's gaze. "Can I ask you something?" He says walking towards me.
"Sure..." I barely breathe because he holds onto my hips, pulling me closer.
"Why is your hair purple?" He asks playing with my hair.
"Because I dyed it," I answer in a 'duh' tone.
He rolls his eyes, "I'm aware of that, Miss Sassy-pants, but why did you dye it?"
I shrug not really knowing what to tell him, so I decide to answer honestly. "Because my mom hates the color."
I see him searching in my eyes, as if looking for something. "Why were you shouting at her yesterday?"
I freeze. So he heard me. That's just great. "I-it's none of you business," I tell him looking down.
He lifts my chin so I'm looking up at him. "Hey," he says lowly, "you don't have to tell me, but just know that I'll listen if you wanna talk." He leans down and brushes past my lips and kisses my cheek.
Hunter's POV
After we ate mom's brownies I drove Sydney home. It was actually nice spending time with her, but I've realized that there's still a lot that I don't know about her. Guess I have to take her out soon to learn more about her.
When I pulled up to her house we both sat in silence for a few minutes. There was a car in her driveway. I turned to look at her and saw her trying to control her breathing. Her eyes were closed and I saw a tear squeeze out, she had her hands clenched into fists.
"Sydney-" I began reaching out to wipe the tear away.
"Thanks for today," and she quickly got out the car. She knocked on her door and I saw a little boy open the door and jump in her arms crying. A girl soon followed, giving Sydney a hug. She looked back at me with tears in her eyes and gave me a sad smile and she waved bye before closing the door.
I couldn't help but get angry not knowing why she was crying. When I saw those tears in her eyes, I felt this huge wave of anger. I never wanted to see her cry again, the idea of someone hurting her infuriated me.
After a few minutes I pulled out of her driveway and headed home.
This is just part one! Part two is a bit more dramatic and mostly about Sydney.
Ooh Hunter's starting to feel protective over Sydney! Can't wait to see what I make happen between those two.Part 2's coming within the hour!
