One week later...
Seven days had passed since Lauren left for her business trip in New York. Seven days since their lips had brushed for the first time and Camila couldn't wait to feel Lauren's lips against her own again. Even though it was Lauren's first kiss, Camila thought she was great for a first timer.
Her mind seemed to be on Lauren every second of the day. Whether Camila was in the bath, or cooking, or even at work, the pretty green-eyed girl wouldn't leave her thoughts.
Camila didn't mind though, she missed Lauren terribly.
Camila's shift was passing at an extremely slow rate and she couldn't wait to get home and into Lauren's bed to sleep. Lauren didn't know about Camila sleeping in her bed but the latter hoped she wouldn't mind.
As for a day shift, there were hardly any customers which Camila was thankful for. She had been working as many hours as she could this week as she was saving for her own car. Catching cabs each day was getting expensive.
Lauren and Camila had been texting back and forth since Lauren had left, and even calling each other on FaceTime every spare chance they had. Looking around the bar, Camila made sure to check that no one was watching her before pulling out her phone and texting the girl she was falling hard for.
[1:36pm]
Camz: I miss you :(
Camz: this shift is so boring and I'd rather be with you and the cats right now
She slipped her phone back into her pocket before running into the back room to grab some items to stock to the shelves with. It was only a few minutes later before Lauren replied and Camila's grin couldn't have been any bigger.
[1:39pm]
Laur: I miss you too :( so much
Laur: this trip is going well but I don't know many people here
Laur: wait... Cats?
Camila quickly texted her back before she got caught.
Camz: not long now until you're home!
Camz: ohhh, stupid auto correct.. I meant "cat" :)
Laur: what are you hiding, Camz?
Camz: I have to go, bar is getting packed. x
In reality, the bar was now empty as the last of the customers had just left.
She was a little nervous about their situation at home. She didn't know whether to tell Lauren about it or not, because she wasn't sure how Lauren would react.
A few nights ago, the rain was falling heavily while Camila was leaving the bar after a very mediocre shift. She had almost reached Lauren's car - which she was borrowing while the green-eyed girl was away - when she heard the faintest of kitten-like meows.
After following the noise, she made her way into the nearest alley to find a cardboard box with the words 'Free Kittens' written on it.
Yet, when Camila looked inside, she only saw one shivering tiny little ball of pure white fur curled up into itself.
As if she were Lauren that night, Camila shed her jacket and wrapped the freezing kitten in it. She returned to Lauren's apartment with the kitten safely in her lap the entire drive.
That night ended up being eventful. Camila took her time researching kitten health, how to take care of them and she tried several ways to introduce Jovi and the new kitten.
