Six months later...
Lauren's fist hesitated on the white door that she remembered far too clearly. Her trance was broken when a smaller hand was placed over her fist.
Lauren looked to her left and saw her girlfriend giving her a supporting smile.
"Are you ready, baby?" Camila asked slowly, enclosing Lauren's fist with her own.
Lauren nodded shyly while Camila proceeded to knock on the door with their joined hands, which then dropped to their sides.
"Whatever happens next, I love you." Camila said as the door opened and they were greeted by Mike and Clara Jauregui.
"Lauren!" Both shouted with love and enthusiasm that made Camila smile. Lauren shyly looked at her parents until Camila nudged her, bringing her back to reality.
"H-Hi mom. Hi dad." Lauren said with a small smile before she walked up and hugged them, which surprised everyone.
The older Jauregui's were shocked but hugged their daughter back. Camila heard people running in the household and two figures could then be seen at the top of the stairs, which she presumed were Lauren's younger siblings.
"Lauren!" The two shouted even louder and rushed downstairs, engulfing their sister in a hug once she had separated from their parents.
Lauren laughed at their energy. She had missed them so much when Sofi had first visited and now she realised how much she wanted them back in her life, especially after seeing the impact Sofi had on Camila.
"Hey guys." Lauren whispered, closing her eyes. Camila awkwardly stood by waiting to be introduced.
"So, this is Camila. My girlfriend." Lauren stated proudly when she pulled away.
"Hi, it's so nice to finally meet-" Camila started but was cut off when all four of the family members hugged the brown-eyed girl.
All she heard was Chris and Taylor whispering, "Thank you."
---
While Chris and Taylor led Lauren through what she had missed in their lives the past few years, Camila stayed with Clara and Mike.
It was awkward at first because Camila wasn't sure what to talk about until Mike spoke up.
"She speaks about you a lot, you know." Mike trailed off, earning the younger Cuban's attention. Camila's cheeks heated up. She knew that Lauren slowly started talking to her family more, but she hadn't seen them until they demanded to see her on her birthday.
"We never really understood how she could find love in another girl, until we heard her talk about you." Clara revealed as she was setting the table.
Camila couldn't say anything. She just watched her girlfriend get dragged from one sporting trophy to the next.
"Thank you for being with her. We can see just how much you have helped her over the past year." Mike said, tears in his eyes at the thought of not being there for his daughter. Camila acknowledged the honesty in his voice and decided to speak up.
"I love her." She whispered softly and the two parents nodded in approval as the three Jauregui children came bumbling in, ready for dinner.
---
After dinner and a little birthday cake for Lauren, the family decided to sleep in before the big day they had planned for the two girls the next day.
However, instead of leading Camila to her old bedroom, Lauren led her outside.
"Ya know..." Camila started as she got in the car without question, "...I used to live about twenty minutes from here." Camila said, smiling at the coincidence.
