It was a week before Christmas and Camila was on her way home. Walking in the brisk cold from the bus stop, she pondered what was on her mind.
For the past two weeks, she had thought about different ways to ask Lauren to be her girlfriend. They had both been sleeping in the same bed since their first date, but they had never progressed to anything more than just cuddling and kissing.
Going over different options in her mind, Camila finally decided that tonight would be the night to ask Lauren the special question after she cooked her a nice dinner.
"Laur?" Camila shouted as she entered the apartment, but couldn't hear any response from Lauren.
She was instead greeted by Luna and Jovi meowing at her feet.
Once she had fed the kittens, she looked around but couldn't find her favorite green-eyed girl.
She took this as a perfect sign to start cooking dinner. She knew about Lauren's affinity for Italian food so she decided to try and make her lasagne.
Camila was just putting the food into the oven when she heard the apartment door unlocking before it was opened.
Camila ran out of the kitchen to greet Lauren with a kiss but was met with a few guests as well.
"Hey girl!" Dinah shouted, hugging Camila just before Ally was able to.
"Hey guys..." Camila said through gritted teeth.
"Oh, what smells so good?!" Ally asked and ran into the kitchen, followed by a hungry Dinah while Lauren stayed quiet.
"Care to explain?" Camila asked, raising an amused eyebrow.
"They came over to spend time with you but you weren't here and they-" Lauren started but Dinah ran back into the room and cut her off by slapping her hand over Lauren's mouth.
"-We wanted Lauren's help with Christmas shopping." Dinah explained, dragging Lauren back into the kitchen.
"You were about to tell her!" Dinah whisper-yelled to Lauren.
"You have to wait until Christmas, Lauren!" Ally shouted as she peeked at the lasagne.
"But, I want to ask her now." Lauren pouted just as Camila walked in.
"Ask me what?" Camila asked after overhearing the conversation.
"If you-" Lauren started but this time, Ally stopped her.
"-Don't mind if we stayed for dinner tonight. It just smells so good." Ally said, smiling brightly.
Camila sighed as she couldn't say no to her friends.
Lauren looked at Camila apologetically. Lauren had spent all day trying to come up with a way to ask Camila to be her girlfriend and their friends were determined that Lauren would do it.
---
Once their stomachs were full of the delicious lasagne Camila had cooked, they sat around the table and talked about everything that popped into one another's minds.
For Lauren and Camila, they obviously didn't want to ask each other the question while the girls were around, but Camila decided to ask when they got into bed where there'd be no interruptions.
However, that wasn't the case.
Once they were finally in bed, cuddling the cats, they started talking about the events of each other's day. Camila was starting to get nervous as she knew that in a few minutes, she could either have a girlfriend or she'd still be single.
