The Chosen; Before the Journey

Chapter 16

As we quickly walked towards home, I start to pick up Crow's agitation.
It feels... Like we're being watched.
I glance around uneasily, and Crow urges me faster. At one point he gives me a nip on my back and we both break into a sprint. Gaining speed as we go, every rustle seems menacing.
I turn to look over my shoulder, and when I look back, a grey she-wolf stands before us.
My eyes widen and we both skid to a halt to avoid crashing into her. She doesn't even flinch, but gazes at us.
"Who are you?" Crow growls defensively.
I study her when she doesn't answer. Her green eyes glimmer, and her grey coat is short.
Suddenly, it dawns on me.
"The Elder-pup" I whisper aloud, and the wolf nods, confirming my thoughts.
"It is I"
Crow stares in shock as he recognizes her.
Neither of us expected this, especially since she is no longer a pup but an adult.
"Listen to me," she said urgently. "I do not have much time left here. A great evil is coming, and only you two and your pack can save wolf-kind" she looks as if she is about to say more, but her body starts to fade, her eyes wide with panic.
When she was no longer visible, Crow and I stare at each other, our minds occupied with what she had told us.
What is coming?

I'm sorry I didn't update yesterday Beasties. I just didn't know where I was going with that last chapter! A random wolf attacking them would be too cliché. I know that this was pretty cheesy too, but it's leading up to the sequel ;)
Ugh, I keep forgetting to ask when I write my authors note! I need your help! As you've probably noticed, I'm terrible at keeping my tense consistent. I'm trying to write it in present tense, so it would be a HUGE help if you guys(and girls) could point out my mistakes.
