The Chosen; Before the Journey

Chapter 14

Crow gets up coming to my side.
"Are you alright?" He asked worriedly.
"I'm-I'm fine" I say still trying to catch my breath. "Let's eat" I said a little more upbeat.
We both eagerly dig in.
After awhile I look up to see Crow's muzzle inches from mine. I quickly look away and keep eating, then glance back at him.
Our eyes meet and we both quickly look away.
I step away, not hungry anymore and lick the blood from my muzzle.
I don't notice Crow watching me from the corner of his eye before he before he walks closer. He licks my cheek and I stare at him in surprise.
He sees my look and backs away mumbling something about me missing a spot.
He looks like a dejected pup, and it breaks my heart in a million pieces.
I close the gap between us and lick his cheek. He has the same look I had seconds before, but neither of us move away. I cuddle my head into the crook of his neck and after a while he relaxes and rests his head atop mine.
That night I tuck myself next to Crow's furry form and fall asleep with a sense of peace, as if nothing could harm me.

I know, this a pretty pathetic chapter, especially for being 2 days late. I'm kind of running out of ideas... I know how this book is going to end, and even have ideas for a sequel, but I feel like there still needs to be more before The End.
Ok, that is not the only reason this update was late. It was partly me being lazy and forgetful, but I had a reason for that! Yesterday I was in my very first horse show :D It was only a schooling show but I got 2nd place in two of the 3 things I was in AAAH.
