Chapter 20

She had failed to realize it was there, so preoccupied was she, and now she plummeted the ten feet into the rapids.
She surfaced, paddling frantically before getting dragged below again. This time it took longer for her to come up, and she sputtered, trying to take a breath.
As she gasped for air she was once again pulled below the churning water.
A minute passes. Two. Three.
Her body is seen in a brief flash as she is expelled from a rapid and catapulted...straight into a rock.
Her limp body disappears beneath the white water.

I quickly lose sight of Sky, and have to resort to tracking her through the underbrush. I go as fast as I can, but it still isn't very fast because I fear I might lose her trail.
Finally I emerge next to a river, Crow besides me.
We spread out and sweep the area, searching for her scent and a hint to tell us where she went.
"Owl," my mate calls me over, his tone grim. Dread settles in the pit of my stomach as I near the edge of a small cliff and smell it.
Sky's scent. Except, it doesn't lead anywhere. It comes to the cliff, and ends.
I gaze over the ledge at the frothing rapids below, then look to Crow in horror.
"She must have fallen!"
I launch into action, wheeling around with Crow by my side and speeding down the embankment towards the river. I swing my head back and forth, scanning the river and its bank for Sky's white coat.
We are a mile down the river, and have still seen nothing. Suddenly, Crow lets out a bark.
"Over there!"
He races away, and I follow as quickly as I can, almost bumping into him as he comes sliding to a stop.
Looking over my mate's shoulder, I spot Sky slowly struggling against the current towards shore. There's something odd about the way she does it, because she doesn't come up sputtering for air, like it didn't faze her.
Once she was only up to her knees we rushed to her side, helping to support her to land.
Once we got there, she collapsed and started coughing up water. Too much for her to be alive it seemed, but once all the water had been expelled from her lungs she stood up by herself, not too much worse for wear after her ordeal.
"Well, I guess we know her powers now" Crow said in a matter of fact tone.

Yay I finally got another chapter up! I had intended to do it last week but I forgot. Yea, my thoughts literally just float away as soon as I think them.
As always I'd love feedback, especially on this one. I started to write the next chapter and Owl just started getting really emotional all the sudden? I don't know I'm not really feeling it. Why almost die and start getting all scared/panicked(I don't even know what she's feeling but she was just..like stressed and uneasy y'know?) now? She just doesn't seem like that sort of wolf.
It would be nice if you guys could tell me what you think about it.
Ugh I'm tired and I still have to study.
;-;
Welp, hope you enjoy my beautiful beasties!
